I've heard of Magnetic Slippery Sam gimmicks which make it possible to flip the coin and such and handle it more casually. Does anyone out there have one of these? My question is how does this effect the gimmick? Does the magnet push out the insert and make it fit less snugly? Are there any other downsides?

It might help to know that the gaffs for Steve Dusheck's Slippery Sam were magnetic and shimmed.

Thanks, Jonathan. Yes, I didn't know that. I only own gimmicks made by the unmentionable Gaffer and Krueppers. None are magnetic. I just missed out picking up one on ebay recently. I find the gimmick increasingly useful for introducing and ditching other gimmicks.

JT, I believe that SD's original gimmick (I think that he marketed more than one version) was not shimmed or magnetic...I have one somewhere.

His copper/silver transposition gaff is not.
His Slippery Sam coin set is.

Aha! It's the copper/silver transpo gaff that I own.
