Hello Again Mr. Burger.
First of all, thank you for taking the time to answer my many questions. You mentioned on another thread that you appreciate videos as they give students the ability to learn sleights. I would like to know if you have a top 10 list of DVDs that you would recommend to your students of magic. Now, I don’t mean to complicate my question to you but I inevitably will. Could you name your top 10 DVDs, excluding those from the wonderful performers I already guess will take up the top 10 spots (i.e. Max Maven, Jeff McBride, Tommy Wonder, David Solomon and the 2 Marlo DVDs previously recommended in another thread)? |

Well, it's certainly a good question. I wished I watched more DVDs so I could give you an intelligent answer. The truth is that I have STACKS of DVDs waiting to be viewed. So I won't be able to do a top 10 list -- especially because the DVDs that come immediately to mind are the ones you already named and excluded!
I thoroughly enjoyed the L&L John Thompson DVDs. I am a huge fan and friend of John's. He and Pam are magical treasures. I loved the Siegfried and Roy two DVD set with their Imax film, "The Magicv Box." I thought it was beautiful and I wrote to Siegfried to tell him how much I enjoyed seeing it (twice) in the Imax theater and then, in traditional format, at home. I also enjoyed the PBS Art of Magic tapes, the A&E Story of Magic and Learning Channel's Mysteries of Magic. It is my interest in magic history that made these tapes so special. |

And two more DVDs that I should have mentioned: first, Jay Marshall's Table Crap which is so wonderful and fun and, second, the compilation tape that Gay Blackstone put together of Harry Jr. Also so wonderful to have this on my shelf and be able to watch Harry and Gay perform Floating Light Bulb whenever I want to!
(See, once we begin making these lists, the nightmare of things I forgot to mention begins to loom in front of me...) |
