Try and find the most expensive plastic and metal gee-gaws in baggies with a sheet of instructions wrapped around them.
Then the money burning the hole in your pocket will be replaced with useless junk collecting dust in a drawer. Or you could save the money for car repairs, health insurance, ect., go to the library and check out all the books on magic and spend the rest of your life learning everything in them until you can do it all backwards and fowards with complete proficency. If you are like a lot of young people here, I suspect you are determined to throw your money away on the plastic baggies with "tricks" in them. But if sending your money to magic dealers is what you are determined to do, I suggest instructional DVDs. (God knows you don't want to have to read.) There are tons of good card and coin magic DVDs available. The Michael Ammar "Easy to Master..." series is a good foundation. There is a lot of non-card stuff out there too. Among recent releases, Darryl's "Fooler Doolers" series comes to mind first. If you decide to ignore this advice and go the "trick" route, find an old chest-of-drawers at a yard sale. You'll need it for all the good-for-nothing garbage you'll accumulate lining magic dealers' pockets. |

Go buy a deck of Tallys and a copy of Expert at the Card Table.....learn everything in the book until you can do it in your sleep, and don't spend any more money until you've got it all down perfectly.
You will not be spending any more money for, at the very least, ten or fifteen years.....maybe longer. People on the street will be amazed beyond words. But seriously......since you're posting in Street Magic, buy things that don't need a table to perform them on, which rather nicely rules out most, if not all packet tricks.....not that I've got anything against packet tricks, it's just that they are the ones that fit so nicely in the bottom of your drawer, never to be used again after the first blush of disapointment after you buy them when you see how they work. And try something different from David Blaine and Chris Angel.....like silks or something......so you say silks are boring and as old as cups and balls?.......don't forget the Ambitious Card was around for decades before David Blaine did it on TV and it was hip again.....maybe Silks are the next big thing on the street! I do not like gimmicked tricks very much so a dvd is a good idea. I have expert at card table for about 5 years and I have read it about a 50 times and practiced tons. I don't mind gimmicked coin tricks but I hate gimmicked card tricks

For street magic, get On the Spot with Gregory Wilson, Subterfuge, and Icarus Effect.

you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.
