Well, I'm convinced, I want a "Dovelite Improved THIS" also. Please let me know how and where.
I went to magicbysander.com but didn't see any sales info. Ed |

Ed,
I sent you an email with information that should help you. There is no retail site because I am the importer and not a retailer. You can buy from me. Pros do it. You can have virtually any 3-color combination you want. Bob |

There are so many opportunities to use this prop, until it must be in about half my shows. Distance from the audience is not a factor as it is with most box magic.

I owned this and sold it on but I wonder if it could be done with two silks rather than three? Would there be enough cover?
I'm thinking that it would fit with a patter line of, here's a white, here's a red, and here's a rosé. (As you produce a bottle of rosé)

Never say never. If given is that the silk matching the load, covers the load as the sleeve is pulled down off the load, why not.?
It may leave some angle problems. But on stage, that should be minimal. |

You know that for some events four colors are required? It works that way too!

"Hey" Bob Sanders! THIS writer (that's how Duke Stern would have begun)has been peeking in at many of the fora since I came through the front door of the Café.
This AM, I decided to peruse THIS. I, too, have wondered about the title. Acronym?? I finally gave up. RE: MAX LONDONO. --First saw him work at a MAGIFEST in Columbus Ohio ('65 or'66)First man I ever saw produce doves "close up". Also, first time I saw a mouth coil. GOOD Now, a story about THIS. Sometime in the '80s, I was visiting the late Dick Snavely in Raleigh NC. We had been friends for some years. I think I was doing a repeat lecture for the IBM, and was his house guest. Anyway,I went along with him to see a potential client. The client wanted Dick to do a magic turn at the State Fair He wanted Dick to do a brief 'flash' act--basically various productions using the music from the Henning Show. I don't recall details, but the lyrics of the music 'described magic tricks" like rabbits from hats and bowls of goldfish from foulards. It was a huge 'arena' stage in front of the grandstand, and it would be impractical to use tables, etc.The tricks had to be done 'in time' with the music. That is, if goldfish were being sung about, the fish had to be produced 'then'! In talking with the client,Dick saw no problems with feather flowers, etc.,but he had no idea for producing the goldfish bowl(s). I was simply sitting in as a consultant and didn't want to interrupt, but I had a stupid stroke of 'genius'(?)---"THIS may solve the problem, Dick." I said. He said, "Huh? Without tipping any details to the client, I described THIS. "You could produce a fish bowl with THIS." "But fish bowls are globular." How would they fit?" I said that we needed to think outside the box. I described the tall clear plastic cylindrical shaped containers that were being sold in the better kitchen utensil stores to store spaghetti. They could easily fit in THIS and hold the fish.---and the assistant could come on carrying the props. He would just point to the girl who would do the necessary counting and displaying. Then he would hold out his hand and she could deposit he loaded silks on his hand. He could unveil the load! I think that sold the show. I have since bought a few of the spaghetti containers and played with it. It works. If you want to play with the concept, I'll send you one of the containers. I had picked up a half dozen at various thrift stores to play with. I'm retired! They're taking up space!

I have been able to produce things from it that I have produced from medium sized square circles. Silk also expands better for the loads. I will have to keep your cylindrical shaped containers in mind, Richard........ maybe even for a parakeet (which would only be kept on there for a very short period of time and the cylinders would have to have several air holes)..... but I have to think some more about using parakeets in those cylinders so it does not create any discomfort for the parakeet. Or perhaps small bird cages. Hmmm, I gotta think some more about this. Like Bob always says, "Scheme."

Jimmy,
You will get a chuckle from knowing that I had to buy back 4 of my umbrellas to use in my THIS (Improved). Red and White was needed down here in Roll Tide country. Of course, the University of Alabama has won it again! This will be another year of Red and White from my THIS (Improved) here in Dixie. Bob |
