Hi!
I came across this site a week ago, while searching for magic stuff on the web. I was born and raised in Copenhagen, but now I live in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) due to work. From the age of 12 to 16 I played around with magic a bit, but never very seriously. A few weeks ago, at the age of 34, all of a sudden I decided to pick it up again! I have no clue why, perhaps it was just time for something new. I lost all my magic stuff from my earlier times, most of it was descriptions of great tricks, the rest a few decks of cards and some scarfs, coins etc. that were collected 2nd hand from family members. I remember having some really great tricks, but I can't remember neither the names nor the way to work the trick, so I am reading a lot on the Internet these days to try and recover some of the lost gems. That's what brought me here! Being 2-3 weeks into re-learning magic I don't perform yet. I have shown a few tricks to the girlfriend but that is about it. Before I used mostly 'automatic' tricks, but now I am determined to learn 'real' sleight of hand tricks as well. It is GREAT fun to practise and better myself, and at times easier than I expected. I find presentation and patter to be the most difficult, as I am a typical 'left-brain' person working with computers for more than half my life. You've probably given up before reading all of this, but if you are still with me, I am looking forward to learning from people that are better than I and to share what little I can. Obviously this is bound to be opinions mostly, at least to start with. |

Thanks a lot Jeff!
In writing my memoirs above, I completely forgot to mention that I am into card magic exclusively right now, and that I have a TON to learn! Michael |

Yeah, if there is one thing I've learned, it's that you'll never be done learning!

Hi Molsen,
Welcome to the Café! You'll be happy to know that Sweden will be hosting the next FISM convention which is held every four years. Not too far for you to travel should you ever be interested in attending a World Magician's convention. I went a little off topic, but it's something you may want to know about in advance. As for the Café, just pull up a comfortable chair, grab yourself a coffee and be prepared for lots of informative reading. Have fun and please don't hesitate to post. |
