I've done a search and it seems that this is one of the only Steve Fearson effects that is widely agreed to be a great effect. My question before I order this is...I've heard that Area 51 contains a lot of the same techniques as in his Floating Cigarette routine and the Source material, is this true? I am just starting to play with effects like these and am interested in seeing which would be the better buy, Floating Cig+Source or Area 51?
Any info would be great Thanks Shawn

It's true! He goes into pretty good detail on the Floating Cigarette on the Area 51 video before going into the Area 51 material. I used to do a TON of IT stuff and Steve's stuff was a staple in my arsenal! Great stuff!

Agree with James, the Fearsons floating cig. is worth the price of Area 51 alone, Steve teaches you this effect in detail.
The Area 51 routine is a different routine all together, it's a outdoor routine that has to be performed at night. I'v done Area 51 a couple of times and it's probably the most amazing ending to a IT routine ever created, the audience see a light stick float away into the sky, and the spectators I have performed this for have yet to come up with a suggestion on the method. Get the download, and the nesessarry props and you'll have a mind blowing kicker to add to your IT routine. -e-

I've only done the outside levitation into the sky once, but it absolutely killed the audience. The only difference for me is that I didn't use a glow stick, I used it as a finale with my Lite Flite routine. It was for a private Halloween party. I used to wonder what ever happened to that little glowing floating ball?

I find it hard to perform the outdoor, last part of area 51 due to quite a number of street lamps available around my area.
is there anyay to get over this? I mean, it really isn't that obcious unless a person looks up, but then again, peter marvey's highly argued CTW uses something similar and many claim that only a blind cant see the thingy

The few times I was able to perform this I used a black bal*** and black sewing thread, I used about 40meters of it just to be sure. In night time it's actually impossible to see the bal*** from this distance.

Thanks for the tip, guess the distance I used was just not long enough. Will give it a try and see how it goes

The effect can also be done indoors if you darken the room and have an open window (especially a high one) that is accessable to you. This eliminates the visual effect of the ba.... but creates a stampede as they rush out the door to follow it.
Also, the lite sticks that the kids put in their mouth holders, earrings, and necklaces works well. Can be purchased at local party stores. The last one I tested burned for 21 hours.

I know a 'little' about pdf formats, so am assuming there is no video teaching this. Just the written instruction in Adobe Acrobat?
I am seriously considering ordering, but not sure if I will understand well enough with just written instruction. I am BRAND NEW to t...d work. smitty |

I love Area 51, I just wish that the kicker didn't have to be done in that type of situation. I would love to do this at a bar.

I just got this, after reading the positive reviews in The Café, and it is well done. I got it as a 4 part WMV video. It's a great value.

I got this years ago when it first came out (Video).
The only things I learned from it are the bouncing part and the outside part. Because I had already been doing the floating cigarette for a long time. But the video does teach the floating cigarette very well. Much better then the written words version (Mine was on paper from his lecture but he also has an E-book for it). The video is much easier to learn it from. I've seen many magician who only learned it from the written instructions not perform it very well. The video shows how to make it float smoothly (The slow motion of the video is great). By the way. The first part can be performed inside. Then you can have them fallow you out and do the last bit. Just attach your first gimmick to the outside gimmick. I've done the outside part a few times. Once I did it with just a cigarette. I flicked the cigarette but instead of landing on the ground it flew away. Here's one thing I played around with but I've never actually performed for anyone. I'm going to be careful not to hint much here though. Basically what happens is you'd stand and face away from the building you are standing in front of. Toss the stick away from the building. Then it floats up behind you and goes over the building. I'm sure people will run out to where you are standing and look for it over the building. If they see it it'll be pretty far away before they get a good look. So the gimmick is hidden a little better. The wind has to be right of course. Ron Jaxon |

The ending for me is worth the price of the ebook, ingenious and extremely effective
