Do you feel that having a deck holdout will be better, the same or worse than deck switches that only use sleights?
I do see somewhat of an even on it, since some may say that hacving a machine is incriminating evidence. But if one really thinks about it, if you get caught with a deck in your body then that's incriminating evidence too. not a strong one, since people that know me see me with a deck of cards so often that a deck in my pocket will not raise an alarm at all. but still... also a question: with sleights you aren't limited to just one way to bringing in a cooler. But with the holdout you are. Or am I? I never heard of a deck holdout so I really cant make this assumption, maybe if anyone can help me on it? thanks for your response Mr. Doc. and thanks all for this good topic. Im learning things along

Hey art the magic guy thanks for writing. I'm gonna answer your questions because you seem to be honest and sincere. First off let me ask you a question. Doesn't a carpenter bring his tools when he has to work? Likewise a card hustler.
A lot of ya'll fail to understand gambling of which I'm going to try to explain. What's wrong with a gambler carrying cards or a pair of dice on them? Nothing. But to ya'll it's a crime. Why? Don't a magician carry his cards with him in order to do tricks? So why shouldn't a gambler carry his tools with him? How am I supposed to start a game up if I don't have any cards/dice to play with? Lets say that two guys who want to gamble meet up and neither of them have any cards don't one or both of them have to get a deck? Now after we finish playing and I beat the guy supposedly should I now throw my $3 deck away or keep it? Ya'll better say "keep it" as cheap as most of ya'll magicians are with buying decks. So what's the problem? Quote:

Now as far as incriminating evidence is concerned, do your audience search you after you do a trick? So why would someone who I don't know walk up to me and search me after I win? Ya'll take things a little too far... suppose the earth stop rotating? You know ya'll are too and I mean too paranoid. Am I limited in the way I bring in my cooler The first thing is this you asked your question wrong but since you were sincere I don't mine elaborating on it. Most people are limited in the way they bring in a cooler (like Charlie) for two reasons. One is that's the only way they know and two because even though I know how to do at least 30 different ways of cold decking for my life I'm going to do my best one which applies to the type of table that I'm playing on so that ends up with two. Bringing In the Cold Deck Entails Two Things; The Type of Handling and the Way You Get Your Deck Situated Bringing in a cold deck varies on which variant that you're going to use. Why? On Steve Forte's table I can slide the deck off but on a poker table I can't so the cold deck that I might be able to do better for a non rail table can't work on a rail edge table so now I have to switch up if I possess the ability to do so or don’t play. In other words Charlie won't be able to cold deck at a rail table game with the move that he did in Sal's video IF THAT'S THE ONLY ONE he knows. I used him ONLY as an example. Now what if you're playing on a smooth wooden/plastic surface? Now you can't pick up the cards because you won't be able to pick up all 52 cards with a snap. There are so many problems when cold decking I don't have the time to write it all out. The Second Variation How do you get your deck out of where ever you got it hiding in order to bring the cooler into the game? Some might just say take it out and put it in your lap. That maybe true but it's easier said than done that's why Charlie had a hold out shirt. What if someone suspects that you stole a card out of the deck or is stealing money off the table and peek down into your lap to see what you're doing? Now having an extra deck out/in your lap is very incriminating. You've always got to stay two jumps ahead of the sucker and I'm trying to do that with this new device of which I have. Make no mistake about it I will definitely improve upon this item in the near future; it’s for cold-deckers who slide their decks off of the table. I hope that this will clear some things up about cold decking. Your Friend and Still Teacher Doc |

Ida worked team handed: One to distract the dealer, one to do the switch and one to take away the cards. Moreover, I think the casino dealer was in on the plays. In such circumstances the dealer is pretty safe because if them three get caught the dealer looks an innocent dupe. So talking dealers into it playing a part might not have been so difficult as it otherwise might have been. It leaves you the problem still of the Eye etc.

Tommy, I sure wish I could have a team like that but us blacks most of the time don't stick together like other nationalities do. Too bad for us.
Ida sure did have a lot of heart though, she might of had balls too. lol. Thanks for writing. Doc |

Well she was ratted out to the FBI by a white dealer Doc. They set her up and that’s how she was caught in the end. We are better off working on our own if we can, what ever colour we happen to be. Still I think you and Ida would have an interesting conversation if you could find her.

Oh we probably would have a great conversation just like me and you have. Don't think that I don't be reading and learning from because I do. Real wisdom is gotten from all places.

When art talked about incrimination evidence he ment that if someone says you just dealt from the basement they have little proof besides what cards your holding and what not or if someone says your dealing seconds ect..... with something like that on you theres no doubt and your caught red handed.
you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

Sodman12 - no doubt about what? You're a gambling man, it's normal to have a deck of cards in your pocket. That's evidence of nothing, if that's what you mean.
However, people don't need hard evidence to get upset with you. They only need to think you cheated, and it's enough. Andrei |

Yes but it depends on the subject. To state the obvious: You can not have the casiono cards in your poket in the casino. Unless they have they are cancelled casino cards of course.
Sodman is reffering to cheating devices I think. But anyway if you are switching a deck you might be caught with the extra deck in your hand and not your pocket which might not be easy to explain away with the line, I am just a gambler who carries a deck of cards. I just happen to have them in my hand!
