PF Cups and Balls by Rings 'N Things ll
-------------oOo----------------- Description: Available in stainless steel and copper, brass and precious metals. The most sought after cups of the 20th century are the cups that were designed by Paul Fox. The early Paul Fox cups were originally produced by Danny Dew and were made by three different machinists, the last of which were the crew at the original Rings and Things Magic in St. Louis, Missouri. This information has been known only to a few people on the "inside" of the cups and balls industry until just recently. So, it is only appropriate that the latest version of this style of cup be produced by the same people. We are now the new Registrar of the PF Logo and have been approved for Publication. The cups in the photo are the 3rd Generation PF Style Cups made by RnT II Magic Co. The first is in stainless steel, a material never before used for the PF Cups and the second is Copper. They are supplied with a pocket-sized instruction booklet, crocheted balls and an attractive double plush tassled drawstring bag that also serves as a close-up pad. 3 FREE REGULATION LACROSSE BALLS ARE INCLUDED WITH EVERY SET! ---------------------------------------------- Okay, it's no secret that I love the cups and balls and I own several sets. In the past you have seen reviews I've written regarding the Van Dokkum Cups and the ever popular Joe Porper Cups. Both of these sets are fantastic and I still highly recommend them. However, different strokes for different folks applies to magic as well as anything else. When reviewing, my standards and expectations regarding cups are very high and I expect no less than stellar quality from any set that cost more than twenty bucks. That said, I received two sets of cups in the mail from MAD JAKE (is he really mad? ) and the good folks over at Rings 'N Things ll. They are the Paul Fox style cups and are absolutely gorgeous. One set is made from heavy copper and the other from stainless steel. While I personally prefer a cup to be made from stainless, I have to admit that the copper set is extremely nice. Both sets handle wonderfully and have just the right weight so one can easily toss them from hand to hand with no difficulty. They stack well and have enough attic space to handle even the largest of loads. Okay, you can't squeeze a watermellon in there, but you know what I mean. I want to point out that unlike the other sets of cups I own, these are actually a bit shorter, but that can be a good thing, especially when your prop case is already near full. Besides, that was one of the great things about the original Paul Fox Cups. They were short and looked like nothing very large could possibly fit inside, making the appearance of fruit and such all the more surprising. Both sets came with the standard crocheted red balls and a beautiful drawstring bag. In a fix, the bag is nice enough that you could use this as your performace stage, though you may still prefer a good quality close-up pad. Are these the best cups available? That question is purely subjective. Each performer will have a preference to be sure, but I can honestly say that these cups are professional quality and a bargain for the price considering the workmanship that has obviously gone into these. As a final note, I compared one of these to an original Paul Fox cup and could see no difference. You be the judge. I like these and give them my highest recommendation. ---------------------------------------------- My rating: Suggested retail is $400.00 per set. Available directly from RNT II Magic Company, Inc.
