Hi,
there is a device called Power-Lev from Markovik to levitate bottles and other objects. I wanted to buy it but unfortunately I heard that it is not produced anymore! Does anybody have an idea where I can still get one? Does anybody who has it want to sell it to me? This is very important to me, I really need this effect so bad! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Why do you need it so bad

Decades before Markovik put out a version of the Power Bottle Levitation (neat name) there was a very, very, very (yes that three very’s) low tec Bottle Levitation. In fact the gizmo could be used to levitate say a light bulb, a dinner plate, a glass of wine (or soda for the under 21’s) and the like.
Most magic stores carry it for about $3.00. You can make a version if you have an old Vernet TT laying around, a sharp knife, a bit of hot glue, and of course a gizmo from a hobby store. You’ll have about $1.00 invested but you can wow your friends!
The artist formally known as Mumblepeas!

Thank you, Harry.
Sorry, I didn't exactly understand you (my english is not so good). I read that Markovik's Power Bottle Levitation is based on the Dove Levitation. Is the levitation which you explained as good as the Markovik's Power-Lev (same technique? same effect?) or way worth? Where can I find an exact explanation on how to build the levitation with the TT, knife and the gizmo. How is the gizmo called that I need to buy from a magic store? Thank you for help. |

It's a great idea, and a great prop. I got rid of this a couple years back, and wish I had kept it. I got it from Hank Lee's, but I emailed Hank and he told me that the prop is no longer being made.

I bought the levitation that relied on a TT decades ago from a commercial source. It was one of those things that made me wonder why I had been suckered in UNTIL I actually routined it and practiced. It blew me away and was a versatile piece of equipment as it could also be used to vanish - appear and a host of other things along with the levitation.
I don't know if it is still sold commercially (you would think SOMEBODY must still make it) and the secret is so old that I doubt the original discover has a benefit from it. It is sort of "common knowledge" for magicians - a Magical Public Domain if you will. I cannot tell you how here for fear of exposure but perhaps Harry Murphy will private message you as I am pretty sure he would have a handle on the status of the effect as far as who owns it etc. Do not sell the effect short because of the gimmic. The first time I ever did it over 35 years ago I could not believe my audiance fell for it. Thanks very much Harry for reminding me of it - I should haul it out and play with it again for old times sake if nothing else. The way old becomes new (except me unfortunately)in magic I would not be surprised to see it used in a TV special and shortly after see a hue and cry from magicians wanting to buy the latest levitation they just saw in the magic special. |

Try Google with "Floating T***b G*****k" and you'll find lots of magic dealers still have this item.

I purchased the Power-Lev on eBay about a year ago - it came with a very detailed manual. It is a very interesting and useful magic tool - requires practice.

Isn't the Vernet Levitator gimmick similar to the Power-Lev? Use the Vernet Levitator. I'm pretty sure that they work on the same principle.

Gerad,
It's different principle. With Vernet, your hands could not separate far enough with the object. |

The most recent version of the Power-Lev, the one Funkymagix is talking about, was created by Mystery. He was the provider for Hank Lee's magic dealer. When Neil Strauss' book "The Game" came out August of last year, it caused the PUA community (Pick Up Artist Community) to grow very, very quickly. Mystery's use of magic, especially floating bottles, as a means for what he calls DHVing in front of girls was portrayed in the book multiple times. Soon, the Power-Lev became a hot item. Mystery realized that he could add a new type of sarging class to his line-up. He teaches sarging magic for around a grand in Hollywood, CA. There, it is rumored you will receive a Power-Lev. For obvious reasons, once Mystery started the class, he removed his Power-Lev, and almost every easily accessible online source that talks about it, from the Internet. Your best bet is eBay or to take Mystery's class. I highly recommend his class.
Oh, and no, the Power-Lev is totally different than any levitation involving a thumb tip. Philos |

I have to check my warehouse, but I THINK I may have one or two left. I no longer have it listed on my website, but thought I saw one when I was checking inventory for another product.

Hi, there.
I actually have it! If you want it, I have no problem giving it to you. Don't really use it, but it is a great piece of magic. The creator, Erik Von Markovik, gave me a couple of them a while back when he was performing magic here in Toronto, Canada. He is a great magician, and I lost contact with him a while back. Interesting fellow magician, though. Feel free to PM me with your info, and I would be glad to send over the Power-Lev. MT http://www.MagicianToronto.com |

I remember seeing one in action many years ago, and it looked pretty nice to me. Made me strongly consider buying one. Very different from the tt levitation people are confusing it with.
