A quick hint on fans.
If you just want to flourish and haven't quite got it down, use an edge to edge deck. The white border on typical US playing cards and Hoyles require great control to get even and look good. But if you pick up a deck like the various "US playing card" topical decks, Nascar, Mickey Mouse, Spiderman, etc., at Walmart, you have quality poker sized deck to handle, but the backs will hide a great deal, allowing you an impressive flourish, without having perfected the fan yet. I also like the American Flag Deck which gives a bright red white and blue fan - two ways. Some of the others, especially Mickey Mouse, gives you a great 4 way fanning deck. Don't stop practicing, just because this helps you produce a decent fan flourish, but I found myself so much encourged by being able to show a fan that I wasn't ashamed of, that I practiced all the more, and now can fan acceptably with either hand. Hey,
thank you femur. I went to that flourishman site and saw the fan vid. It is GREAT! Also, there was a link to another site (superhand or something), that had a fan video of him spinning, but with a Giant fan. I then looked around and saw a vid of a guy putting a fan on one finger and balancing it (then flipping it or something), and then another of a giant spinning fan on fire! Woahhh, I'm just trying to do the normal fan. I am trying to find the American flag deck and some fanning decks. Does anyone know where I can find them? Thanks in advance Cardjinx |

American Flag decks can be had at Wal-Mart. As for fanning decks, try a Mickey Mouse deck. You will be pleasantly surprised at the effect, and if you can reverse fan - they go 4 ways. You can also get them at Wal-Mart, near the kids toys and games.
I used to find the American Flag decks at K-Mart too, but they hardly carry anything anymore. BroDavid

For all the info you will ever want and need to know on fanning, buy Jerry Cestkowski's awesome book, Encyclopedia of Card Flourishes, at http://www.flourishman.com
It costs a bit of money, but it is definitely worth it, it will tell you what you need to know, and how to do it. Check it out! Doug-The Magic Sponge. |
