I have performed it with 100ft and with 200ft. But I have never tried it with 50 or 75 for some reason. Has any one else ever tried it with these amount. If so is it much harder? And how often do you perform it this way.
I know the others look better, but I was just wondering. Thanks for any replies. |

I do it frequently with those shorter lengths. In my humble experience, any member of the audience who is half interested and half intelligent will notice when the longer lengths start simply to be wrapped and draped around you. While they do lend a striking visual at the end of the tying (and of course there are occasions when they are well tied) I feel the shorter lengths are, on the whole, more authentic.

I did it for years hanging from the burning rope, escaped from 12 Meters rope, later I used 12 m chain which is around 40 feet. Never had problems with that.
I preferred the smaller version because it can easily become BORING to the audience if the tieing up needs too much time (especially when you don´t know if the moderator does the comments as you have given him in the textsheet). I also found out that the KIND of shackles you escape from ARE ABSOLUTELY UNIMPORTANT(!!!) -- if you have a strong personality. It is the fight that is interesting, and no one really cares if you use a little bit more rope or whatever or not. Also, I absolutely agree with Escapemaster- too much rope, too obviuosly easy. (If you want to send me a private message, please use my website because I´m not regularily here and several older msgs were eliminated when I wanted to read them. Thanks!) |
