I just finished creating a chop cup routine the only thing is I don't remember who to credit some of it too, I based part of it on larry jennings routine I think but I don't really remember. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a clip of his so I can be sure.

Sorry, in my previous post I gave you the name of a book but if it's video, then I believe the routine is on his "Thought on Cards" Vol. 2.

Larry Jennings' routine is on this DVD:
http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/customer/pr......tid=8103 There's also Don Alan's routine on it, although he only explains how he does the final loads. Martine Lewis' routine is basically the same as Don Alan's but with different presentation. And there are some extracts from Brad Burt's chop cup video (a few vanishes and final loads). |

The routine in the Classic Magic of Larry Jennings is not a chop cup routine. It is his "one cup routine" that still utilizes three balls.
This is the same routine chronicled in the "Thoughts on Cards" video. |

Thanks, Ron, I stand corrected.

The Jenning's chop routine is in the small booklet titled: "Larry Jennings on Card and Coin Handling" put out by Jeff Busby.
There are a lot of great routines in this little gem, including the chop routine. |

Also, I'm a little confused by your need for crediting if you've only just created a routine. I think a routine should be "trench tested" for quite awhile before it's published - but I may be "old school" in that thought . . .

A ROUTINE SHOULD BE "TRENCH TESTED" FOR QUITE A WHILE BEOFRE IT'S PUBLISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. If the routine isn't tested in the trenches, for months if not years, it's not worth selling. Too much stuff makes it onto DVD, that isn't worth seeing. I think the magic community would benefit if most of the material out there was never published. Too often, magicians are taught things that just don't work, by people who lack credibility.

Not gonna stifle anyone's creativity here.
If you are writing up your routine and want some help with the crediting... good for you. As to offering a routine to the community... good thing to make sure it's evolved into something that works wonderfully for you before offering it to others. It's a shame to show stuff around that does not play well for audiences. Best of luck with the video part on Jennings, though you should know that folks have evolved many routines from that handling. Have a look at David Roth's routine from his 1976 lecture (I believe Pat Cooke did this on Wonderama in 1973) and perhaps also check with Mike Rubinstein and Bill Palmer here on the café for some more up to date references. Good luck with your routine.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Alright, let me say that I have tested this routine quite a bit and it is ready for performing. It is a good routine, gets the reactions I want it to get and all in all I am happy with it. I test everything, after all I am not an amatuer doug, and I apologize if I sound rude but I am tired of everyone avoiding the question posed and automatically assume that a routine isn't well thought out and deserving of being written down. But hey that's just me, I could be "old school".

Don't know who you should credit.... but just thought I'd throw this in, in case you didn't know. The best Chop Cup routine of all time is performed by Paul Daniels.

SteveJ: I was simply going from your initial post where you stated you "just finished creating a chop cup routine". Sorry if I came across pedantic.

I enjoy Dougs routine from his Unexpected Visitors book. It's nice to see vanishes in a chop cup routine again.
