I remember seeing this as a kid, it was a television play (I think for the BBC) which must have been sometime around 1990. It focused on the eponymous retirement home dwelling escape artist and his quest to finally perform the water torture cell before he dies. I won't go into too much detail so as not to spoil the plot if you manage to track down a copy, but I remember it being a fun fantasy with a cool ending.

Have you tried getting in touch with the BBC and asking them if they have released it?

I know nothing about the BBC, try to contact them. They (as in TV companies) have tapes of everything, I'm sure they could make you a copy.

The BBC is the biggest broadcast company in the UK, possibly the world. I would think the chances of asking them to make a copy would be less than nil!
Only if it was released by their trading department, BBC Enterprises, would you stand a chance of getting a copy, but as it's so old, and also as it would not be profitable to make small runs of particular shows, there would be no chance. Only possibility is if someone has previously taped it. I have a feeling that Richard Harris was the actor in that programme and I may have a picture from the movie. If I locate it, I'll post a picture here. Hope this helps MH |
