I'm looking for a wireless mic setup that is totally battery powered. I don't want to have to plug it in for power at all. I have a rechargeable Portable PA that came with a handheld mic and a wireless handheld. I am looking to add a wireless headset mic.
I'm pretty sure that the PA will receive a wireless signal because of the wireless headset it came with. I really appreciate any help as this isn't my area of expertise. Thanks, Brian |

Movie business uses lots of these types of mics.
They're on the expensive side, the real expensive side. Lectrosonics is one. http://www.lectrosonics.com/wireless/400/ucr401.htm Zaxcom is the other. http://www.zaxcom.com/audio/engrec.shtml |

Thanks those look pretty nice.
I think my PA has a receiver built into it. How do I find out what frequency it is on. Would it say on the wireless mic? I hear that the two types UHF and VHF are different and one is better than the other. I'd have to bet that the wiresless mic that came with this PA is the lesser quality frequency. Brian |

Here's an alternative to what you're trying to do. I made a "AA" battery pack to use with my two wireless microphone systems (one's a Sennheiser and one's an Audio-Technica.) Both of my wireless receivers (and most I've seen) use a 12-volt transformer which means they'll run off 8 "AA" batteries.
I made a simple battery pack using an 8 battery holder and a connector for my wireless receivers. This allows you to use the wireless mic system of your choice and then plug it into your Pyle Pro. The battery pack is easy to make. Just PM if you're interested and I'll give you details. Michael |

Nady has a great little wireless PA and mic system. It's called the Nady 1620 and sells for between $259.95 and $325.00. I used it in the dealers room at last years Michigan Magic Day and the battery lasted from 7:00AM to 7:00PM at which time I turned it off. And everybody could hear me quite well. You can also plug an MP3 or CD player into it and play music at the same time that you talk and both the auxiliary and mic channels have separate volume controls.
I have also used it at lectures and shows with from 25 to 350 spectators in attendance and it worked GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT! It comes in two versions, the handheld wireless mic and the lavaliere wireless mic. Personally I prefer an ear or headset mic so I went to the dollar store and bought one of the ear mic sets as used on cell phones. I removed the wires and mic which came with the dollar store unit and rewired the Nady mic into the ear piece. I then painted it flesh tone. I now have a wireless ear mic and PA which cost me about $262.00 and some time. If you would like more information on this system please PM me. Below I have included some of the specs concerning the 1620. You could keep using your wireless mic and just add Doug Malloy's Freedom Mic Holder to your set up.

I prefer the gim-crack personally, as it holds the mic at a better location
and it's only $10.
