From the F.A.Q. section, we are told:
"You may edit your own posts at any time, unless the topic is locked. Just go to the thread where the post to be edited is located and you will see an edit icon on the line above your message..." In my experience, the "edit post" option is not an option for any of my old posts. Maybe this is a "user error" on my part? If so, can someone please enlighten me? If not, perhaps the F.A.Q. entry for this topic should be revised to reflect the fact that you can't edit your posts after a certain (unknown to me) period of time has passed. Help please! Clay |

That's a VERY good observation. You are right, old posts, that is, if someone has posted after the post, you cannot edit. I didn't notice this in the FAQ and I'm sure Steve will be glad you found it.

Clay, you are correct. The FAQ section needs to be updated however, here's and excerpt from the rules and etiquette forum which explains the editing policy.
Quote: members may edit their post if the message is LESS THAN 30 MINUTES OLD *AND* there has been no replies to the message. If the post is older than 30 minutes or a reply has been posted, the member will get one of the following two messages:

I noticed this in the context of selling some books. It's inconvenient for poster and reader alike to have to sift through multiple posts to determine what has been sold - much easier if the seller could simply delete the item(s) sold and post a simple "list updated" message.
It's your forum, but the no editing rule becomes VERY cumbersome for sellers of magicana - and potential buyers. Clay |

Yes, we're aware of that, but the posters can always report their own posts with a short explanation that the item is sold and we'll delete it. We do that all the time. Just because the poster can't delete the post doesn't mean it *has* to stay there. Other options are available. I wish we didn't have to do it that way, but we have little choice.
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?

I personally reveiw every for sale item in all of the let's make a deal forums several times a week and delete all those over 30 days old as well as those have state the item has been sold. Sometimes I miss a few as there are 100's to review but so if you see any of them while you're scanning, please report them and I'll take care of it right away. Thanks

Guys, your dedication is much appreciated. If this is the system (however time consuming it is to manage) and you're okay with it, then so be it! Clay
