I'm just launching my magic business and I need to buy a couple of portable tables to use during my performances, most of which will be in homes.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to find reasonable priced, but good quality, tables? |

I use the ta'da' table for my kids's show by Barry Mitchell and Terry Evanswood. Its pretty cool, packs flat, and travels really well! Other than that the Joe Lefler tables are great too...

There's gotta be a table thread in here somewhere. I ended up bulding my own.

If you want a long list of nice tables with pictures, prices and descriptions. Look here - http://www.daytonamagic.com/
I use the Joe Lefler table in every show as well as the Eureka table base side table with a shiny black cloth cover and they both work great. Here are some other kid show table links in the Café... http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=17 http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=17

I would also recommend Malloy's Pro-Rolling Table! Doug makes a very sleek looking table that packs down for transport. He's also a pretty good guy to work with... Let him know exactly what you need and I'm sure if he isn't too busy, he can do something custom for you...

I almost forgot to mention...
There is a guy on the Café who has thought about making tables for the "once-in-a-while-performer" who can't afford a top of the line table... Do a search for "TABLES" and I'm sure you'll find him... Otherwise, stick with Malloy's Pro-Rolling Table... It holds a Dean Dill close-up mat perfectly too! Bryan |

I use the large Joe Lefler table and absolutely love it. It holds my entire show (with the exception of my chair suspension) and is very professional looking. It's extremely well designed and will last a lifetime.

I have the larger size Lefler, and the Viking Pro-Table. Either is great. Viking is a little too tall to stand inside my car (Toyota Matrix), but I like the drawers and cabinet-like styling. I've been using the Lefler for 10 years, and it still looks new. I looked at the Barry Mitchell "Taa-Daa Table", and was even going to buy my own (from the basic thing that the craft stores sell) but decided against it. Won't hold enough for transport.

How "reasonably priced" are you looking for?
If you want really inexpensive but very portable and still professional-looking, you can buy a wooden, folding "TV Tray" from Wal-Mart and drape a (nice-quality) black cloth over it. (May want to have the edges hemmed so you don't have loose ends dangling around.) You can even have a pouch sewn into the back of the cloth to act as a sort of "servante". Packs flat, easy to carry, sturdy (even outside in the wind), and inexpensive. You'd have to carry your props in another container instead of in a compartment in the table, but you can find an inexpensive, professional-looking case easily. (Mine's a $20 aluminum case from Home Depot. Works great.) Just a thought. Don't know how tight your budget is.

I use a wide variety of tables, many of which are made from mass produced items. I use a restaurant tray stand as a table base, just put a tray on the top, and as a stand to support a plastic tote/prop case. Barstools also make good tables. For a really portable table, I use a Viking tripod with a cutting board as the top - the tripod fits in my hip pocket.
