Hello to all!
I have a feeling that mine will not be a popular view, but I've read a lot about the comparisons between Yves Doumergue's "Ripped and Restored" and Daniel Garcia's "Torn" and I think it's always good to hear another opinion. I have worked with both effects and I prefer Ripped. Here's why. With the necessary practice, both effects look great but, frankly, I think Torn is VISUALLY stronger overall. It truly looks like pure magic -- the sort of thing Doug Henning might have performed. The problem for me, however, is angles. While neither effect is 'doable' from super close-up, Torn more so than Ripped is dependent on the angles being precise -- the performer's position relative to the audience is critical in all three restoration phases, especially the last one. The first two restorations are more or less manageable in most situations, but the set up for the final restoration is tricky for more than a very small number of people. With Ripped, however, all of the critical moments are covered by the hands in a very natural manner. A lot more people can be "standing around" without fear of flashing at odd moments. Considering the circumstances and venues in which I perform most often, this is a key factor I have taken one or two finese points from Torn and incorporated them into my Ripped routine (e.g., the handling of the card after the first restoration), but otherwise, Ripped is the T&R version I will use most often. Depending on the environments in which you tend to perform, you might still find Torn, overall, to be more to your liking. For anyone still considering whether to purchase one or both of these great routines, I hope this short review is helpful. Happy holidays! |

I have to agree.. Ripped vs. Torn, I think it's just a preference but Ripped just feels better to do in my hands. I also think Ripped is more straightforward than Torn, but again, my opinion.
