I have been looking for a long time, so finally decided to as if anyone knows where in the world these cases and suitcases can be obtained.
This is a black, thin, 'cardboard feeling material' that is used by many commercial companies. Any help would be appreciated! |

I have seen drum cases made from a fiberboard material. They come in are various shapes and sizes and are used for drums, cymbols, stands, etc. Very lightwieght, but tough.
I am not sure if this is what you want or not, but you can check them out at Musician's Friend, American Musical Supply, or Sweetwater Music. Those 3 places are great and they have good websites. I've dealt with all 3 of these companies and they are very good to deal with. Regan

Thanks Regan, these types of case also come in luggage type of cases. Metal corners and such. Looking for a manufacturer.

I am actually looking for something like that also. The props I have are really large and I need something kind of light weight. I would like to find a manufacturer of these also.

Christopher Star, thanks for the reference. I am looking for a hindged case without any wood. Their web sites says their trunk come wood lined and the non-wood cases only telescope.
Any other references. I think there is a company in New York somewhere and Daytona Magic says they have a case maker a few doors from them. They only sell 2 models from this neighbor. I did a google on the stores around the magic shop and could not find anything. |

Bill,
My first guess is Hamilton Stand as the supplier. You might also ask George at ShowBiz Services where he gets Vent Doll cases. Otherwise, Regan has my first choice. Music stores can get all types of drum and band accessory boxes. (But that might be Hamilton Stand again!) Scheme! I'll look for you one the road. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I've never seen one of these fiber cases that had a hinged lid. The hinges are usually riveted into place, and they require a lot of reinforcement to keep the lid from tearing away from the hinges. Even piano hinges don't work well on these. Most of the cases of this type that I have seen have been trap drum cases or cymbal cases. They always have telescoping tops.

I have one of these suitcases. I got it so many years ago I can not remember where....but if you find a lead please share it. My 25 year old is starting to show its age.

I orginally purchased such a case from Daytona Magic at a convention. They said the supplier was near their store. I have searched Daytona on the net and found nothing in the yellow pages.
The New York manufacturer is not on the net and has switched to a plastic type of material. I purchased a small one and still like the cardboad case better. These have metal (silver) reinforced edges and corners. Usually blace cardboard for the body of the case. |
