Well, the bat was suggested in jest, but the dove...now that has possibilities.

Sorry, Bill, there wasn't any hint of jest in the message that suggested the bat. It's hard to read intent, and this place is so filled with crazy suggestions that it fits right in. :-0

No apology is necessary, Gordon. I am afraid I sometimes (?) try to say something funny without making my intent clear. I forget, I suppose, that this medium does not carry vocal nuances (whatever those are ). -- WARNING: That was another feeble attempt at humor.
And what is more charming than a big, hissing cockroach?

Not going for the dove, eh? How about a goldfish? That line of magic has a long history and you can buy everything you need at a normal magic store.

The Doktor New user Spiderskull Island 98 Posts |
After reviewing this post The Doktor indeed used John R's idea for bugs. The Doktor produced several cockraches and flies from an unusual tatto inspired by a Joe Coleman painting. The tattoo (fake) was added to the forearm of The Doktor and the effect was both frightening and beautiful at the same time.
Perhaps a tarnatula would work. Maggots Worms Beetles The flies were great but lost on the larger audience. It was eXcellent to see them fly away after appearing. Thanks all for inspiring The Doktor and keep the ideas comming. The bat would work but where can The Doktor get one that isn't rabid?

look up at me and you see a god; look straight at me and you see yourself” “I'm not your eXecutioner. I'm not your devil and I'm not your God. I'm just The Doktor." H D X! |

Nix the tarantula...They don't like to be palmed or stuffed into anything, and you do not want to make one mad. (Yes...I have a tarantula, lovely little beast. The only way I would ever make her appear out of anything would be a chick pan where she'd be comfortable) Scorpions...Same thing (Have one, love it to pieces, but not the ideal creature to have appear from anything)
Giant cockroaches however...Easy to breed, keep and handle, and they don't mind tight spaces. Lot's of info on the net about how to keep a colony of them in a rubbermaid tub. Bats (Although actually sweet creatures) are not available as pets, and not particularly trainable. Plus, they stink. Snakes are good, and come in an amazing variety of sizes and colors, can be easily handled (And make wonderful pets), and a relatively large snake can fit into a relatively small space comfortably. My 5' python can easily fit into a 10"x10"x2" space. She sleeps in a box that size! There are snakes available that get little over a foot long. They also have giant millipedes that are very easy to handle and care for. Nothing like a 8" black or red multilegged critter crawling out to say hello. DO NOT MISTAKE A GIANT CENTIPEDE FOR A MILLIPEDE!!! THEY WILL HURT YOU!!! How about a hermit crab? You can find those pretty much anywhere nowadays, easy to take care of, come in a huge variety of sizes, and their shells can be decorated/painted/bejeweled in any way you see fit, so you could make one match a tattoo perfectly! Crickets, mealworms, superworms and just plain old earthworms would be fine. You can put a lot of those in a small space, and all are easily obtainable. (Heck...I have crickets on hand at all times, but for pet food purposes...Maybye I should be looking at them differently!) Just my thoughts on it! Gwyd |

As a spokesperson and security guard for the Cricket People, they really do enjoy magic appearances and will reward your audiences with much personal attention. See Borodin's Final Curtain for a true story which, we hope, will dampen volunteering Cricket People for minor foodchain duty and move them more into the spotlight.

Keith is pretty busy from what I have seen.
We ordered some from him for the website and they took a while to arrive. He will get things to you in my experience, it can just take a little while. I do not want to sound like a plug, but we do have this publication in stock at Bizarremagick.com- Not sure if Tory has put it onto the site yet, but she has 5 left on the shelf at this time. I would send him an e-mail and inquire as to when he will be shipping it for you. If you are pressed, feel free to send me a PM- the mail at the site has been acting up, and I will have Tory get back to you on price etc. We try very hard to ship within 2 days of an order. Kay
