A freind at an Arizona radio station tells me that The THING on hwy 10...a Tate Fake mummy (and not very realistic either) was recently under a Fed investigation. Why?
Two ridiculous female morons filed complaints that such things should not be! Even after it was proved (what a stretch!) that the paper mache, toilet paper and shoe polish gaff was not even close to real...one of these geniuses, Jane, was quoted as sayiong it didn't matter...she still felt SAD for the Thing being shown like that!!!!. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The other one Ida is still angry about the display. Bureau Of Indian Affairs out of Washington DC was on the scene and made a stink...but cleared the 'Mummy' as it was not against the law to show a fake. Give me a frigging break! DUH! Otherwise every movie ever made is illegal. Do gooders are everywhere and every once in awhile the worst and most stupid of the breed shows itself and makes a fool of herself (in this case her) and risks getting more idiotic laws and restrictions put down. There were a couple of bone fragments in the exhibit which BOIA confiscated but really for no reason...just in case they were from old Indians.

It's good to see that the govt. is spending our tax dollars protecting us from such outlandish atrocities

Doug,
I agree with your sentiments. But I still wonder if this "incident" might just be a publicity stunt. Maybe something cooked up by a publicist who is taking advantage of "political-correctness" run amok. Just a thought. Carl |

Carl...it was not...I heard the Interviews...have them on tape....the women were frighteningly dense, clueless and determined. The BIA investigator might have wanted a free trip to Arizona though...but I heard him too. Kind of like a moron convention at the as end of the desert...but, we should bge glad that these dipsticks exist to protect us all from the exploitation of paper mache figures that cost a dollar to look at.

Doug,
You better watch out for the Chupacabra rights activists! I am sympathetic to the idea that even goat-teat-ripping, bloodthirsty little devils should be afforded some dignity even when dead, but we've got to make a buck, too, don't we! The news story over this makes me think along the lines Carl has suggested. Even though those these folks were real, it would be a great thing to set up for a show, especially if you could evoke an official response. For example, our government launched an invasion of Iraq, ostensibly over a search for weapons of mass destruction, which were never found. Did you ever wonder what they were actually looking for? It's not hard to figure out. What do you think might lie hidden in the ruins of Babylon? Something that would make a few crude fission weapons look like a string of ladyfingers. Why do you think the former government of Iraq abandoned its pursuit of weapons of mass destruction? Sanctions? Don't make me laugh! Why bother building a uranium-enrichment facility that can be bombed out of existence from space when all you need is a book. A very old, very dangerous book... And now, my friends, for just two dollars, you can see what they were looking for... Yours, Paul |
