Corey mentions a good way of using the half gimmick and I have another tip for the Cigarette-thru-coin. Go to a craft shop and buy a lacey red feather and use it in place of a cigarette, or bill. The lace on the feather blossoms out well to hide the actual penetration. It is great to see the coin kinda fusing itself together as the feather is pulled all the way through the coin. It looks very good and the observer of the effect will enjoy seeing this action.
I also think the quarter is the best of the two, even though I have a half for sale. The design on the tail side of the quarter matches the gimmick better than the half tail does. Also, I agree with the comments that the coin that allows both sides to be shown ( I think this is Sasco's, but I am not positive), has some angle problems, andthe Johnson version has less angle problems. Additionally, it has a problem of having to reset the gimmick from time to time and a couple of posters have stated that their Johnson coin has lasted for 15 and 30 years and still going strong...that's hard to beat. I've had the Johnson quarter through cig for 30 years, and it still works fine. But, honestly, it's one of those tricks that I never really used much. I'm not a great coin man, but even if I was, there's something almost too amazing about it... somehow, I never felt like I was able to sell it. I'm thinking of picture up "Puncture" which is shorter and punchier and also a quarter penetration, though.
