Great quote and I absolutely agree. So many people sit and think about success and dream about success and what it would be like if they were successful. Instead they forget that any success requires you to first get up off your lazy butt and go out there and take direct action to make it happen.

Anyone can learn to be successful. However success requires work, education and the determination to keep on trying. It requires remembering that failure is only failure unless you fail to learn from it. If you can learn from any failure, then failure becomes a stepping stone on the road to success.

Go out there and make it happen. Find the success within yourself.

It was a non magic related situation but it made me remember to really make sure that the people that I am speaking with understand what I am presenting or speaking about.

Great quote there and certainly gets you thinking. I often time have to remind myself that the client or prospect may not turly understand what I am saying or trying to say. This quote reminds me that I need to listen to my prospects and clients and work with them to understand not only what I have to say but also hear what they intend as well.

Good to read your comments, as always Smile

Gekko's quote actually serves a motivational purpose for me at times, goading me to practise sleights or do marketing when I'd rather be...well, lazy. While the context and perhaps intent of the quote are negative, the gist of it is that achievement requires directed effort, and thus it's become a succinct and much more positive reminder than the director meant.

My poem's snippet reminds me largely of the same thing, but in a much more explicitly positive way: In striving towards a goal, not every job will be glamourous or pleasant, but each is necessary for achievement.

On April 23, 1910 Theodore Roosevelt had this to say:

"It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. This is important! Basically, if you are in a rut weither it be routining, a dry-spell of shows, kids parties, etc... Just know, it came to pass... It is not here to stay!

That is so very true. We must also learn that when we seem like we have failedor done a show that did not go over well, that we can not look at failure as failure. Learn from the experience. Study why something did not go over well and learn from the experience. When one learns in this manner, then even failure is not failure at all but a step in the right direction towards success.

It's latin as quoted from Julius Ceasar.
"I came, I saw, I conquered".
I always saw that quote maybe a little too deeply as a method for success in business.
Kind of like Woody Allen's: "80% of success is just showing up" thing for Julius' "I came"...that kind of, maybe, "reading a little bit much into" it.
I really liked all the quotes here! Some real gems!
