Harry Riser and Charlie Miller were close friends, so it's probably the same design as Johnny Thompson's. Since Harry's book just came out, that would explain why I had not seen the large rounded opening being used on any other bags until now. I have certainly not seen it in print before. I don't know about you, but I find the larger rounded opening easier to cover than the small straight opening because it follows the curve of my hand. I have extremely small hands and I have no problem covering the opening when showing the bag.
On a separate note, I personally would not consider Pauline Tong's egg bag "el cheapo." She does good work and makes a nice egg bag; her bag is just designed different than mine. I think that quite often in magic things are not necessarily right or wrong, sometimes they're just different, which is good because many times different magicians have different preferences. I try to make the best products that I can possibly produce and from what I hear Pauline is the same way. Lynetta |

Lynetta,
I certainly wish more people shared your view of the world and especially magic. Everybody's different. You're comments in the above post should be shared with everyone. My hat is off to you young lady! Thank you! Don |

I don't know anything about Pauline's bags except that they are supposed to be darn good.
I was referring to the eggbags available as standard dealer items.

The quality is very good. But if the opening is too small, it just isn't going to work properly. Now I have this good looking bag which is pretty much useless. Very disappointing.

Hey there Lynetta, I will say it again you make the best egg bags out there. I love the 14 day return policy to help with the proper selection of a bag. Great buisness practice. brian

I recently placed an order for one of Lynetta's bags. I have been using a Malini bag from Bazar de Magia for several months, and since it's beginning to wear, I decided to go top quality for my next one.
I'm not getting paid in any way, but I haven't yet been disappointed in a purchase from that company. The egg bag, once I started using a blown egg, performed very well. |

It seems that this conversation belongs in secret sessions if we are going to talk about methods and construction.
As far as the egg, use a bantam egg. That is what Malini originally used. Johnny & Charlie talk about this on the Stevens Egg Bag VHS, but Johnny mis-states the fact that you can't get bantam eggs anymore. I use them myself. I have a few hens that give me all I need. If anyone needs any, I can provide them for you. PM me. Scott Compton

Correlating the size of the p----- with the quality of the bag is a good way to miss out on some GREAT bags. I saw one comment about the el cheapo bags with the small p-----, which I couldn't let pass entirely.
I have two Magic Inc bags... each is over 40 years old. I bought one directly from Charlie, at a lecture. They both have small p-----. Their quality is unsurpassed by anything on today's market, partly due to the type of silk crepe that existed then. I also have a Tong bag. It has the same size p------ as the Magic Inc bags. It is NOT an el cheapo. The workmanship is very nearly on a par with the Magic Inc bags, and even the Fabric Manipulation bag. But, the material used does not drape as nicely as silk, and is also a bit lighter. But, the small p------ is no problem. I have used these bags over a thousand times. Remember, the back side of the spectator's hand (knuckle side) has little tactile sensation. I also have a bag from Fabric Manipulations. The larger p----- IS an improvement, but not a necessity. However, if it gives you a greater range of confidence, it has served its purpose, and is well worth the money. The bag itself is on a par, if not above, the Magic Inc bags in quality of construction. It is a tad bit smaller than either of my originals. I flirted with sending it back for a bigger one and never have (it has been over a year now since I got it.) So, if I want a bigger one, at this late date, I'll probably just order another one in a slightly larger size. It is very close to the drape and feel of the Magic Inc bags, as I understand that she uses the best silk crepe out there today. That it is not exactly the same is no fault of hers, since I don't think today's silk crepe can give exactly the same weighted drape of the fabric of the late 60s'. But it is VERY close. I never had a Busby bag or one of Frank's mentioned here. Somebody PM me about the actual fabric Frank uses because I am curious. I always heard the Busby bag's material was a little wrong, whatever that meant. |

Knowing that over a period of time the Bag is going to become soiled and stained from partcipants putting their hand into the bag, what's the difference in Dan's Bag and Lynette's to make a difference in the cost?

Dan Tong's use of the bag is quite impressive. Does anyone know what type of egg he uses?

Pete,
Will your egg bag info make it into print or video format? I'd love to see it.
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."
