PayPal does have a dispute resolution process. Go to the help section and look for "Protection Policies." Luckily, I've never had to use it, so I can't say if it actually works, or if it's only meant to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I had two occasions where I did'nt get the items.
Paypal managed to get my refund on both occasions. Unless the seller can come up with a proper tracking details of the goods sent, paypal should be able to get the refund within 11 days or so. They even managed to win a case when someon sent me a payment with a dodgy credit card. had to go through hell of a time but it ended well. Guess what ? when I won the case after THREE MONTHS , the buyer did'nt seem to want or like the item. |

Thanks, Mehtas. It's good to know there is recourse if something should happen. I've read sellers complain that a buyer can easily request a charge back after they receive an item, so I guess it goes both ways..

PayPal is now owned by ebay and you don't mess with ebay!

I have found e-bay and pay pal great to work with. My experience with buying and selling has been great. I suppose most people are honest and concerned about their positive feedback.

I've had two occasions to use the Paypal resolution center. The first dispute was decided in my favor, but Paypal was unable to recover my funds due to the deadbeat nature of the seller (who was smarter than the average bear, and ripped off several Café members before being discovered and given the boot). I am now currently waiting on the outcome of my second dispute. This time the sale was directly from an eBay seller, so I have higher hopes of recovering my funds this time or, at best, finally receiving the product. Given the number of transactions I have conducted with a great number of sellers I suppose I've been lucky to only run into two bad situations. I'm happy to say that I have had many terrific experiences with a number of great sellers on the Café (only found 2 bad eggs, and both of them are long gone). Keys to consider...
1. When purchasing from an eBayer be sure to check out their feedback. Check the comments from buyers carefully. 2. When considering a purchase from a Café seller be sure to check the seller's Café history (number of quality posts versus the hyper-speed-to-50, two word "I agree" style posts that help them race to the ability to make it into the "Let's Make A Magical Deal" section). I confess that I do not consult the "Great Sellers" thread with any regularity (because it does not necessarily contain all of the great sellers here), but this is another terrific resource available to us. Let's face it, any transaction is a bit of a cr*p shoot. I tend to agree with Max (above) however, and put my faith in the fact that most people are honest and concerned about their positive feedback. Best of luck! |
