Hello all,
I have been doing magic for many years now, but just cannot find any satisfaction in doing kids shows or "tricks" for people on the street. I want to take my magic to the next level. I am looking to tap into peoples disbeliefs (or their beliefs). I want to cause people to question reality. To make them wonder if what they just saw could possibly be reality and what they have been comfortable believing is nothing but a delusion. I don't feel that "traditional" magic is the way to reach this level in peoples minds. I have spent quite some time reading a large number of posts on both mentalism and bizzare magic at the Café' here. I have also spent a large amount of time on the web looking for books and other sites to help me decide which direction my magic should be going. Here in lies the problem. I am currently serving in Iraq. I cannot just run out and drive to the local magic store or library for resources, and ordering books is somewhat out of the question as I am slightly impatient. I am wondering if anyone knows where I can find bizzare magic e-books or videos. Downloading has become my best friend here. I have done searches on the Café' but cannot find anything. Also any informative websites would be greatly appreciated. I know that this request is similar to the normal "are there any good books on...," but I hope that you see my situation as being slightly different and will be willing to help. Thanks in advance Josh |

Hi Josh,
I'm actually in a similar situation as you I started out with magic. Then got into mentalism. Then I'm starting to get into bizarre magick too. I think people in the Café will suggest the same material to start with most of the time. For mentalism Annemann's Practical Mental Magic Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism For Bizarre Christian Chelman's Capricornian Tales Borodin's Sheherazade If you are looking for instant download, there are a lot of good ebooks, but not much video that I know of. For instance, you can get Practical Mental Magic at lybrary.com Trickshop.com also has several good books on cold reading, contact mindreading, hypnosis, etc Many great author's also have ebooks in their websites. Richard Osterlind and Bob Cassidy's site both have excellent ebooks. Or you can just try searching 'mentalism ebook' or 'bizarre ebook'. You should get a lot of ideas! Hope this helps Phil |

Phil and Keith,
Thank you both for your quick responses. It will most likely take some time before I make any kind of a decision as to which path I want to go down, but it is always better to have a map when you stand at a fork in the road. Josh |

You may want to look into "The Book of Haunted Magick" by Rick Maue.It is not an e-book, but well worth the wait should you decide to order. I have this and there are some very STRONG effects in there that can really play on people's emotions in a bizarre setting. You can find it by going to Rick's website http://www.deceptionsunlimited.com
Rick is also a member here so if you PM him, I know he'll be more than happy to help you out. Hope this helps you out a little more. Good luck, and Happy Haunting! Phil PS: Thanks for all you are doing for us over there in Iraq. I wish you nothing but the best. Get home safe.
