I use to have an essay on my site about chop cups and cups and balls. It was basically about how so many magicians search for that perfect set of cups (or chop cup) yet some of them limit their search to magic dealers. Then I showed a collection of cups I've found and chop cups I've made. Most of them where found in department stores, grocery stores, pet stores and ever flee markets.
Anyway, this is my favorite chop cup I made. I simply gimmicked it to work as a chop cup but I added a little something else to it. Here's a few pictures of the cup. As you can see I added a little mini table to the bottom of the cup. The cup is gimmicked inside like normal but this little table is also gimmicked. This allows for some neat presentations and handlings. Just thought I'd share that. I think it's a nice looking cup and the steel balls also look good with the copper. Ron Jaxon |

How about ball and cone? I made this one from 2 craft cones, sheet vinyl, and a black felt interior. I used fabric paint to create the stitching. And stained and melted the outside. It looks like antique leather up close. Sorry about the crummy picture, I'm headed out of town:

A neat "home made" chop cup is described by Martin Lewis for his Can of Peas routine. Easy to make and a FUN experience for your audience.
