Good doesn't even begin to discribe it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. How he did it, is not nearly as important as why he did it. Watching this is like slowing down so you can get a good look at a body on the side of the road. Creating it is like runing your car into the guardrail to get attention.

Richiardi did it better.

It's an old ruse that has been around for years. It has been exposed by James Randi on a TV special years ago with a so-called witch-doctor doing the same thing pulling a cancerous tumor or abnormality from a person's body just like on the Blaine video. Very easy to do.

Well, old as it is, it was done during the Blaine hey-day and was pulled off marvelously for his style. He may not have the skills of many others, but he has the power of effect and surprize mastered.

I think I'd just be too embarassed to do this! Some guys I see make the dumbest faces and act just plain silly for 'dramatic flair' when an effect such as this requires a delicate balance between showmanship, presentation and execution.

Don't forget how jaded the 'b-level' of magicians have become since Blain beat them all to the punch.

Why do you suppose he's changed his approach to creating an effect?

I saw this in his book, but never seen it performed. It is a simple method, but from what I see, he did it differently. Im not sure how HE did it. But its just like the fake tumor removals, etc. He said in his book that CBC of NBC or what ever station that show was on, almost didn't air it.
So, what happens after the commercial? Did he say it was a joke, or was everyone left to think he was dead? I personally think that he did it in poor taste. That is NOT the trick to do in those circumstances.
