I have something new to say.
Quote:
Tom: Here's a problem: "compelling" is a ridiculously subjective term. Akin to "nice" in a way; what is compelling to me may not be compelling in the slightest to you. Quote:
Tom: I would argue that it is impossible to present anything without revealing something of yourself in the way you do it. Perhaps it only appears this way when performers with weaker personalities perform magic. Perhaps some branches of magic attract these types of people. Perhaps that is the "real" destruction of the art.
Hello.

One must get a hold of his subjective realities and compell his audience. Yes, audiences are subjective.
OK If you call revealing that you have no personality a compelling revelation, have at it. That could actually be a very funny premise but unfortunately, anyone who understands theater and the character of lack of personality is going to be creating a personality out of the demonstration of lack. I would simply say if you are going to reveal something, reveal it. Those personality-less performers (whoever they are) aren't revealing something, they are revealing very little, next to nothing. |
