Does anyone know where I can find Docc Hilford's coin routine where the story is about traveling back in time and the date on the coin changes?
Thanks!! |

As someone posted in Penny...Thoughts, the routine is called Time Machine, based on a Larry Becker routine (I believe in World of Super Mentalism) and can be found in Knepper's Wonder Words Volume two. I haven't read or heard this in a year or so, but seem to recall some powerful "Kentonism" touches. As I indicated in the same thread: I had the privilege of seeing Docc perform a most wonderful coin effect (twice actually! I stayed late) last week at a magic shoppe in Fl. where he now resides. An audience of mostly finger flingers were totally entranced, drawn in by a wonderful tale of dreams within dreams spanning Mongolia, Jack T. Ripper and the Kennedy assination. Displaying three invisible dream coins (Chinese, British and a U.S. Half dollar, representing each era), two participants were asked to select the coin most representative of their fears. When he next opened his hand, the coin not chosen materialized and he wished the two helpers "sweet dreams." Not a move to be seen, smooth as silk. I hope i'm not transgressing by sharing this routine; it was just so wonderful that I want
to sing its praises. In two showings, I never even thought to look for a method, so engaged by the tale. As I believe a freind of Docc has said, "Meaning is the best misdirection." |

There is also an effect called Nightmare Coins in his Band of the Hand book. I'm not sure if it's the same one.

You can do a search on hocus pocus for Hilford and find the effects listed with his books

The nighmare coin routine you refer you involves a story about jack the Ripper, genghis khan and John Kennedy. this is a great effect and very bizarre.

Nightmare Coins and Time Machine are different effects, although there is a similarity in method.
In one, you discuss a nightmare you had and in the other you actually appear to transform a silver half dollar into an old english penny bearing the date the spectator freely thought of. Regards, David. |

The beauty of Nightmare Coins is that you can create your own nightmare stories and link them to the dollar, chinese coin and penny making the routine very personal.
