I am very curious as to what the Magic Café community thinks of this idea:
What about creating forums for magicians by location? In other words, a 'Los Angeles' Magicians' Forum, a 'Chicago' Magicians' Forum, etc.? Or, if that is too specific, forums for the various states, such as 'New York' Magicians' Forum, 'Texas' Magicians Forum, etc. Since the Magic Café functions as a proxy magic club for some of us, we could go to the forum for our state, city, or part of our state, such as 'Northern Michigan', 'Southern Massachusetts', or what have you, to see what magic-oriented events are happening locally. This way we could be apprised of events in our area that would interest other magicians in the same area. So what do you all think? Possibility or pipe dream? Dai Bato |

"So Happy Together..." partially covers that here. What is missing is a listing of local public performances: restaurants, clubs, festivals, theater, etc.
Subdivided as you mention would mean way too many new forums, as The Magic Café is worldwide. Where it would benefit the members would be when someone wants to know what is happening in locations where you are planning a trip. I've seen many questions in that regard, so I'd suppose inquiring minds have already asked. Most locals already manage to have a pulse on their own backyard. Internal magic events such as lectures, meetings, etc. are generally advertised and promoted through the local clubs. If someone isn't getting any news, either they should hook up with a nearby club, start one themself, assume nothing else is going on, or start asking other local magicians. ~michael
