Hey Gang -
I'm 31 years old, I live in Chicago, and after a lifetime of wanting to have a hand in magic, I've decided to take matters in my own hands and learn everything I can. I'm trying to talk a local magician into taking me under his wing, but for now it's all books, videos, and this fantastic web site. I've got a lot of reading to do and I'm about to get started but I wanted to say Hi to everyone and I look forward to getting some excellent advice from the forum. If someone has small hands, is slight of hand a bad idea? Just wondering. Thanks MrJ |

Welcome to the Café.
I'm sure some of our 'smaller handed' friends will help you out on this one but there are many magicians with small hands out there (most females tend to have smaller hands) and they will probably tell you that there are ways round this. If large hands were a requirement then there would be far fewer magis around. Have a quick look here http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......;forum=2 Or start your own thread. Best, mike
It's times like this I wish I'd listened to what my Grandad used to say...

Welcome to the Café. I am also new to magic and I have found this place to be a wealth of information. Everyone here is very helpful.
If you have small hands, I would start off doing sleights with smaller objects. For instance: instead of using a 1/2 dollar, use a quarter or nickel. Some advice that was given to me was to palm a quarter and walk around with it all day. Try to use your hands like normal as much as possible. You will drop it a lot at first, but it makes a big difference in getting used to it.
