My buddy just came back up from Atlantic city and brought me a pack of transparent cards. Oh man these things are great. They're plastic and they fan well and they table spread for miles! Anybody ever used these?

I love 'em! Magicfish, do a search here on clear playing cards. There are some great ideas for signed card effects and such.

I personally hate any 100% plastic cards. I find them either too slippery or too sticky. But they doo feel good for about 5 minutes.
Bear in mind that I don't do fanning. I just do other sleight of hand.

One other downside, at least on the couple kinds I have, is that the printing doesn't always line up card for card, so DLs etc can get sketchy.

I don't see why you would think there would be. Only problem is, mine don't spread the best, but the novelty of them is great, and given that they are NOT gaffed, and people can examine them, I have never had any problem with people suspecting something. Why do magicians always think they know what layman will absolutely think? So often we are wrong. I have only ever had people suspect my normal Bikes to be gaffed and only untill they get their hands on them, or I use their deck. Usually them suspecting trick cards is only a last ditch effort when hey see no trickery with your hands and can't explain what happened. Also, why the big concern with using anything "out of the oridinary?" We really need to reconsider what that is. Just look the next time you see some "ordinary" people playing cards. Almost always some random deck they got at the dollar store, or with a specific name logo or sport team type cards. People do NOT think that only Bicycle cards are ordinary. Only magicians do.

I've got some, blue backs, well kinda. I like the look of them but haven't played with them much.
In the UK Bikes are 'special' cards and look wrong as we normally use bridge size cards, either Number 1's or WHSmiths cards. Try getting thosed gaffed on the internet!

I have a deck of these ... they are cool. I just have to find the right trick for them.
Why in the world should laymen automatically think they're gaffed when they buy one at Walgreens? C'mon guys, STOP THINKING LIKE MAGICIANS! See ya! Joe L.

Joe,
I don't think most people are thinking like magicians, we're thinking like laymen. Remember them? They're the people who will think any black cards, reverse colored cards, silver cards, clear plastic cards or any pack of 5 cards kept in a little, special wallet are probably "trick cards". People consider "normal" to be anything they have around their house. Very few laymen have small packets of cards lying around or Black Tiger Cards in their homes. Therefore, thinking like a layman would be much simpler. Steve |

I keep two decks of the clear cards in my case for the slower nights when someone says, "Can we borrow a deck to play a game with?" I certainly won't loan out my pasteboards, because you can well imagine the condition they'd be in on return...so I keep the plastics around for loaners. Very handy, too, if you're out hanging out with a bunch of your laymen friends...so you're not ruining a deck for a night on the town, haha.

Steve, I understand what you're saying and to each his own. But I just don't think it's anything to worry about when US Playing Card company is manufacturing all kinds of kooky decks that anyone can pick up at Walmart or Target. But if you're not comfortable using a clear deck, or a pink deck, or a sky blue deck, then you shouldn't.
Now, I have seen decks with a top hat and a magic wand on the back design ... THAT screams rigged cards, and I WOULDN'T use those! See ya! Joe L. Quote: On 2007-01-05 22:54, Stevethomas wrote:
