The trick is called UFO. You can use a playing card, credit card or hotel room key card.

That looks sooooo cool. This would be a great, quick stunner.
Thanks, Joe, for the video link and thanks, Harry, for the title of the effect. Mark. |

Different maker, yes. Otherwise not really. It's also sold as "Hummingbird Card" and several other names. Authorized copies? Hmmm... what do you think?
The video post seems to be using a different hookup. The moves he does aren't easily done (if at all) with UFO/Hummer/Hummingbird.

The claim that this effect uses no IT is an interesting one. There is another site of discussion (relates to a magical rabbit in the UK) where suggestions are made that this guy uses a lot of camera tricks on his videos.
Here is a link where this effect can be purchased. http://www.thegag.com/gd-0017.html It says "two cards, ring, string, and magicians' wax included." Hmmm...wonder what the string is for? Mark. |

I have the UFO whirling card that you linked to and it can't be the one MadV uses. UFU comes complete with the "special stuff" that all the others come with. He definately waves his arm above and below the card while it's spining. Have you read his posts on his youtube page? He has signed a deal with a TV station and can't post any more movies. He's had more than a million hits on his movies. Not bad for a 17 year old!

I agree with Magicnevets... it can't be UFO. Sure does look great, though.

I like this comment:
"nice. I've seen many float tricks, but still havent figured out how they're done (without strings, that is. but no good magician would use strings, they're to easily exploited causing the illusion to be ruined)" It's funny the line "no good magician would use strings" Dave |

I believe there are many good magicians that use strings. However, I would be surprised if the method in the video does not employ IT of some sort.

I think he is just puuling the old dealers trick, you know, the one where they say "no strings or wires" because the simply call it "thread."
