Why not "publish" it yourself?
If you're only looking at an upload, author the book in full color, and then set up a download link on your website. You can use paypal to do an automatic download so that when people buy your book, they get access to the file. That's about as simple as it gets. Robert

Lots of magicians publish through SPS Publishing owned by Samuel Patrick Smith. Quality work, reasonable prices and you're dealing with someone who knows magic intimately. http://www.spsmagic.com

I second SPS Publishing. Sammy understands what magicians are looking for and is set up to work with them.
Good luck. Mark. |

Buster, this is JUST my opinion and carries very little weight. I don't know you, so this may not even pertain to you. Consider the following advice accordingly.
In my opinion, unless you're recognized within your field as an established feature performer or known lecturer, publishing a book concerning a novelty art is a great risk and, my apologies, an act of vanity. People in our fields look for either new ideas as in a new trick, effect or routine or name recognition and accomplishment. There are already many superior books on the shelves and the Internet that cover juggling in general. Before you spend the cash, you need to ask yourself, "What will my book contribute that isn't already covered by someone else." If you can't give a definitive answer ... one strong enough to convince another juggler to buy your book over the countless others out there ... then you're looking at a huge expense for the satisfaction of calling yourself an author. You would do better to start out submitting how-to or new routine articles to juggling trade magazines or general entertainer journals like "The Funny Paper" or "KIDabra Journal." You won't be paid for your submissions, but you won't have to pay to see your name and ideas in print, either. If your ideas are good, you'll build a reputation and a following. In a year or two, you can place these same ideas into a collection and publish your book with a fair knowledge that there is a market for what you have to offer. If your articles fail to build a following, then you've saved yourself the expense and disappointment of a moderate-to-extreme financial failure. Just a thought. Good men and women have listened to my ideas in the past and, wisely, suggested more fruitful alternatives based on their experiences. Some I listened to ... and profited. Others I ignored ... and either got lucky or failed. The course is yours. The best of luck whatever your decision! Skip

I appreciate your post, I am not publishing this book for other juggler's as such, but for people to get after my shows, as I have always been asked if I have a book etc

You might like what you see at http://www.vantagepress.com I've never dealt with them myself, so I can't tell you anything good or bad, but it seems to be an interesting concept.

Books are powerful BOR sales tools- I also suggest contacting Sammy Smith at SPS Publishing- he did a great lecture at Kidabra on one of the marketing days, about the power of being published. Good Luck.

Don't let your age be a wall, Buster. I've seen several gifted teens who are headed for greatness. The website is http://www.spsmagic.com for Sammy Smith. He's an extremely nice and easy to talk to kind of guy.
BOR refers to "Back of Room" as in Back of Room Sales. Anything that you sell before, during or after your show to bring in extra income or promote your show is considered a "Back of Room" or BOR item. Your book will increase your visibility as a performer and will bring extra income as a BOR product. Eventually, you might want to consider selling beginner juggling balls, clubs, scarves and such as well. Check your local tax laws! Good luck! Skip

Well, one of the sources we use can do a 54 page, full color, 100LB gloss paper stapled booklet at 8.5 X 11 inch (Slightly smaller than A 4) for less than $2.50 if you have at least 2,000 printed. Psprint.com
Lightning Source, which has a UK office (so might be cheaper shipping than LSI US) will be offering color printing within a couple months. Lightningsource.com Here's a bulk printing company in OZ http://www.level9.com.au/ Here's a self publich co http://www.selfpublish.com.au/ No sure if these folks do color: http://instabook.net/australia.html E mail me if I can help you any further....
