I find myself reading about a trick in a book and you tell yourself that isn't a good trick and you go to another trick? You go visit a friend and he performs this trick you passed up and wow! It was you good trick and maybe I should learn this trick.
I find myself doing this now and then, how about you, every find yourself doing this? Jeff |

I have something similar that happens to me a lot. I borrow a book from someone and read it. I then end up doing a trick to that person and they say, "wow... where can I get that?" and I say, "It's in the book you let me borrow."
Moral of the story: read everything you already have and try out most of what's in there. Greg

I've passed over effects and techniques. Maybe because there's a lot of setting up, too many moves, I see no presentation for it that fits me or whatever.
Some time later I may read them again and asked myself why I didn't see their value. That's not to say I'll do it exactly the same but may see it in a different light. |

I have stumped across Memorized Decks many many times, but never took my time to learn one. And guess what happened? I get fooled over and over again by a memorized deck. Even now, I don't know any memorized card systems @@.

I used to go into Hank Lee's when Harry Levine was working behind the counter. Harry is probably one of the best read guys out there. When I would ask him for advice, more often than not he would advise me to get a book. One time I was there and Harry did three effects which had be completely baffled. I asked him where I could learn those and he replied, they are in that Harry Lorayne book that you bought a few weeks ago.

I find it happening to me a lot when learning sleights from books. Sometimes, the descriptions are so lengthy and the moves seem to be very awkward that I start questioning myself whether the sleight could be executed naturally and well disguised.
Then some time later, I'll chance upon a trick from a video that utilises the sleight and I'll go "That looks familiar." and then go on to check up the sleight in my books again. Maybe I'm somewhat too reliant on videos but it always helps to motivate me more when I see that the sleight is actually executable. |

I've done the same with video, several times. I learn a great move, then find it in Tarbell.
