I am interested in buying the hummer card. How do you all rate this, and is it easy to perform? Also, is it possible to do the floating dollar bill with this effect.
Thanks Chris |

Yes, you can do the floating dollar bill with it. It is not easy to perform when you first get it.

Yup, it's a really cool effect, but it's not easy setting up.
But it's nice. It's like being able to spin a floating card, that cool. Multiple uses ! |

It's soooo easy to set up. It takes like 10 seconds. Maybe that's because I worked in a Houdini's for a year though. ha ha ha ha.

Is Houdini's UFO the same effect or is it different.
Thanks, Justin

It is the exact same thing... but it has better quality thread.

Is it the same hook-up to do the floating dollar bill?

I like this effect a lot. The book that comes with it explains everything very well. Once you have yourself set up, you can walk around and do it virtually impromptu. The method is not hard to learn and it is loads of fun to practice. I do not get to use it much in performance because the conditions have to be right to pull the effect off.

Good trick, very visual, but setup is a pain.

Nice for attracting crowds.

I agree, UFO is an eye-catcher and will gather a crowd like crazy. I never feel that confident with it to use it as an in-your-face effect, though. Set is a bit of a pain, but I think the results are worth it.

Do you guys use the marketed setup, or the one that (I have heard that) Bob Hummer personally used?

I usually do the HummingBird Card instead.

I'm a relative (6 months) newcomer to magic and the Hummer Card is one of the first tricks I bought. I personally found it a bit frustrating and anything but impromptu. I'd shy away from IT tricks if you're just getting started and focus on beginner level coin and card sleights.

Unless I've been misinformed, the actual setup that Hummer used is something that not many, if any will ever do.
I don't know if it's been discussed on this board before and I suppose I won't blurt it out in case anyone is doing it and wants to keep it hush hush. Lets just say that the actual method hummer used did not require a thread. Dr Magic |

So what, did he actually make it "fly"? Just curious!

Hummer card is one of my favorite tricks I recommend it.
It's not difficult because you can make up your own routine and what the card does. Best regards Tom

Details, details. So he didn't use IT, but that's because it wasn't around. He did use something suitably similar though.
