Both guys seem to have many fans. Some love both and some are strongly in favor of one or the other. The general consesus seems to be that they are both very good at what they do.
I'm thinking about getting a 3/1 set in Kennedy half dollars so your information is helpful. Mike |

I'm holding examples of both coins in my hand as I write this. They are exactly the same except for the Teflon. The magnets are no stronger (or at least very minimally,) between both sets of coins.
I have no allegiance nor preference to either of the builders, so have no reason to tout one or belittle the other. My assessment of the two sets stands as stated. I also stated that Todd showed me his coin long before I ever heard of Jamie, however, if we really adhere to the self-righteous claims, then we neither Todd or Jamie should ever make a Copper Silver Brass Transposition set again, since it was Presley Guitar's origination. Neither pays tribute, financial or otherwise, to Bob Swadling for the Flipper Coin, so I guess "improvements" only count when we think they should. I also clearly stated that the EARLY 3CM was greatly inferior to the Triple Threat and that it did make noise when flipped. I also stated that the latest 3CM has undergone dramatic improvements and now does not make noise when flipped and can be scrutinized. You can get whatever one you prefer, it makes no difference to me as I have no allegiance or obligation to either Jamie or Todd, but don't post that one is inferior to the other unless you are holding the latest models of both coins in your hands as you write...which I am doing now. Anyway, my assessment stands. There is nothing "wrong" in the entire text of my post. |

Since the right people are looking...
What would be needed to have a "press" to make FOIL coins (shell)? IE to put silver foil in and get some nice disposable easily vanished coins?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Am I the only one who dislike the "sound" this gimmick makes when trying to n**t them?

Takes a little practise but then with time, they can be real silent or rather, neligible....
I can even do the coin roll with it and with minimal or no sound.
Think outside the box, cos people are all thinking inside now!! - ClouDsss

The foil shell reminds me of an effect (Paul Harris) where the coin under neath changes as noted by a rub of a small piece of foil on top.
This nearly normal guy has been using Todd L toys er props before he was a magic house hold name. My triple is a very early version. Thanks T.L. Harris

I'm going to bring this thread back out of the woodwork to ask if anyone has purchased the 3CM since all of this discussion occured, and if so, what your reactions are?
Does anyone own both the Dean's Set and the 3CM to match? Do the interchange as well as described on his website?

I can say that All the coins from Schoolcraft will fit together. In other words, the milled shell will fit on all the coins, flipper, copper silver and the set it came with. The expanded will cover all those together so you are three deep. Lassen's Triple threat does not fit any of these, but I didn't count on that. the worksmanship of all these coins is superb. Don't drop them, you'll be sorry. James

I have both 3CM and Triple threat in Morgans with matching shell sets and flippers (schoolcraft dean's sets). You can't go wrong with either one.

Yes, Triple Threat and 3CM both perform the same function.
