Hello puzzlers' and fellow magis.
I looking to get a normal coin end up inside a normal glass bottle. No cutting of the bottle or bending of the coin. and if the coin is bent, I am looking for a method to straighten the coin INSIDE the bottle. Is there a method to soften the mouth of the bottle, push the coin and re shape the glass again ?? I guess the only possible method would be blowing the bottle around the coin but this could be very expenssive for me. Any Help ? |

Do some research on the impossible bottles of Harry Eng. He put coins (among other things) in bottles in the manner you are looking for.

I've read a little bit on Eng's bottles, but one thing I've never been able to figure out is his v&@& system, both in construction, design and where it gets its "hold" from...
If anyone has details, please pm me or provide a source |

Nir,
Yes, great books. And another is in the pipeline: http://www.akpeters.com/product.asp?ProdCode=2450 I accumulate books faster than I can read them. I was surprised to see some of the "gnomes and hats" puzzles in the Puzzlers' Tribute book. I saw some of these puzzles for the first time in this forum...even though the Puzzlers' Tribute book was sitting on a shelf at home. I've already got more than a lifetime's worth of reading/puzzling on my shelves! But I'm surprised I missed the "hats" puzzles. Gardner-related and Gardner-endorsed books get special treatment. I usually don't shelve those until I given them a thorough read. It must've been a busy week when I got my copy of Puzzlers' Tribute! Stan |

Stan,
must have books are also: puzzles for connoisseurs by peter winkler - also contributor for the G4G books mathematical bufflers and more mathematical bafflers by angela dunn complete penguin puzzle book by david wells. the above 4, which I mentioned many times before are truly great and relatively cheap (the last 3) I have to admit I "adapted" many of the puzzles I post here from those books. I think a dime in an old milk bottle might work.
