If I lose my fantasio candle ring, can I buy this ring from somewhere? I have asked some magic dealers, and they said that candle ring couldn't be sold separately. Are there any substitutions?

The first thing I do with a new candle is toss the ring and use a rubber band.

I think using rubber band is not a good idea as I want to make my vanishing candle appears, holds it as a real candle and vanishes (with safty catch) finally.

1st the candle ring that come with a Fantasio candle is to be put in a candle holder that you find at many gift shops. It was not intended to be used alone on the candle.
2nd, go to http://www.fantasio.com and he has a list of supplies to purchase. Or you can email him yourself. He does sell the rings separately at conventions. I am sure he will sell you one if you ask. Dealer do not want to bother with it as they would be stuck with operating capital in a drawer. It is only good business, as they have to buy large amounts, they cannot buy just one or 2. |

You can do this with a rubber band and I believe it is the prefered method. With the right tension, the rubber band will hold the candle in place after producing it. Then take off the rubber band to vanish it. Use white rubber bands. I'm not sure what you mean by "safety catch." |

In fantasio's book, he describes a gimmick called 'the challenger' gimmick if my memory serves correct. Although it does require you to cut a piece of the candle and make it a tiny bit shorter, the gimmick is quite wonderful. No rubberband required, no ring required. Great for doing something like the following: make a vanishing candle appaer, then dissapear, then appear again and lock it into place and hold it by the middle if you want.

Use white elastic. One hole punch end of candle. Lift flap so hole is through one ply. Place white elastic that wraps twice around bottom of candle. When you pull candle into place the candle will stay open so you can handle from the middle. Then you can pull off elastic and vanish. This idea is from Mr. Gerrard. I hope this helps. Ken |
