Hi to all,
Although I routinely send out thank you letters and an evaluation form after my performances, I have not done so following performances at wedding receptions. It just seems sort of tacky to ask the bride/groom for an evaluation (and hopefully a nice quotation) of me on THEIR special day. What do you think? If you ask for an evaluation, how do you do it? Thanks, Bruce |

Like any other performance
Just one thing-- always ask how long their honey moon is so you can understand how long it will take for them to get back to you. If the bride & Groom like your show they will be happy to get back to you |

Anything WRONG with asking? No, of course not.
But the whole idea of a magician at a wedding reception is to stay out of sight and keep the kids out of sight, too. I don't think the B&G will be very likely to have any idea how well you did. |

Wait until the honeymoon is over and ask them directly for letter of reference. If they don't get it to you within a couple of days, write it yourself and email it too them for their approval. I have found that most clients would like to write the letter but it is not their top priority.

Totally disagree with rossmacrae. I have done over 100 weddings and not once performed for kids. I do strolling magic during the evening, or table magic during the breakfast.
and what about the anniversarie waltz? the perfect trick for any bride and groom! I also have many refferals from my weddings. I wait 4 weeks before sending a thank you tho, they have a lot to do AFTER the wedding, aswell as before. |

I have never done a kids party in my life- I usually give the kids little magic tricks and go off somewhere else- I don't perform for them at all. |

It's TRUE there are many levels of solutions and service a professional can offer for our brides, grooms and their families and their guests!
Where it is true that there are some who "specialize" in wedding-day 'baby sitting services', which also a viable service, BUT as others have suggested it is NOT, by far the ONLY solution. As a matter of fact it is, in my estimation and experience the least considerations. I have assisted thousands of brides and grooms with their wedding festivities and I have NEVER been hire exclusively as a wedding-day baby sitter, but rather as a professional ambassador of goodwill and reception (sometime at the wedding as well) party facilitator. To be fair, I ALSO offer the FULL range of wedding day solutions and services professional, (Magic, Music, Ministry... etc.) but Magic is a HUGE part of all that. http://www.SpectacularWeddings.com As a matter of fact I just met with yet another delightful wedding couple again tonight. At a wedding, I find that MOST of my time is attending to the entire party of guest from the time they arrive in the reception area and until the B&G arrive after the ceremony and pics, etc, with a minor emphasis on the kids, "just after the meal" (as they usually finish sooner) and before all the wedding day festivities. (toasts, first dance... etc) Anyway... The cool thing is there is LOTS of room for all sorts of success support in the wedding industry. I have even had cause to hire LOTS of different wedding extras like game shows, inflatable, character artists... etc. (For the adults… really!) as well as clowns, costume characters and other children’s attractions. The best thing to do is NOT to put wedding solutions into a box. There is room for all of us. Party on! I am at your service and In HIS Service, Rev. (Spectacular Wedding) Dean <><

Thanks Brother! YOU would know about those things, and it is incredibly kind of you to say… I appreciate that! (I'm not broadly known for my web-design work... Ha!) ...nuthin' fancy. Maybe someday I'll actually finish it. Certainly doesn't seam to matter to my Bride's and Grooms though. (Hehehehehe!)

Oh... by the way, YES, send your evaluations as well as a nice "THANK-YOU" card or gift along with what-ever refferal stimulation system you have in-place. (this goes for EVERY part of your busines... NOT just the wedding parts!
