There's what appears to be an excellent special on voodoo on the SciFi channel's "SciFi Investigates" series.

It's on now..

Baba, you there ?!

I saw the first 15 minutes and then went to bed (I get up at 5:30 AM for work and last weekends shows wiped me out). My wife saw the whole thing and told me I MUST see it. I'll try to catch one of the repeats.

I was watching it in spots, so I missed chunks, but from what I saw, this was not the average BS, it looked to be a decent presentation of voodoo and it's culture.
Give it a watch, Baba, you might be pleased.

It was actually pretty well done. They did their best to be even-handed, and looked at the issues from a number of different perspectives. My only real complaint is that they tried to pack too much into an hour show. It was hard to get the full flavor of any single ritual or event that they looked at, because they would show part of it and move on to the next thing without full discussion. For example, they showed the throwing of the bones, but then cut away before any kind of reading was done.

If you have not seen it yet, don't expect to learn all that much about voodoo, that is simply not the purpose of the show. It was, however, interesting and entertaining.
