This is my first post.
I've been lurking for some time now and have very much enjoyed this forum. I'm a full time professional magician with a growing interest in mentalism. I look forward chatting and exchanging ideas with all of you. Thank you! |

Hello Torkova!
Feel free to jump right into the discussions. There are quite a lot of people with a lot of thoughts here at the Café, and you won't find a friendlier place than this to discuss them.
If anyone sees my sanity, please return it to
me. |

Welcome!
I first saw your flawless coin act in SAM convention in Boston or in Las Vegas. Of course I saw you again in the convention held in Tokyo. I hope you won't change your magic completely to Menatlism as your vivid manipulation is wonderful. Hideo kato |

Hideo, thank you for your kind words about my coin work. While I am very much intrigued with mentalism, I don't see giving up my other magic completely - it's too much a part of me. It is interesting that a number of coin magicians have gone into mentalism.
David Roth told me that Kuda Bux once did a coin act. David met him at the Magic Castle and blew David away with coins. Of course Gary Kurtz also converted. It brings to mind what Dunninger once said, "I love magic but mentalism pays the bills!" This is even more true today since the venues for playing a stage act are considerably fewer than the ones a mentalist can play. It is ironic that I sometimes have trouble booking my coin act at larger venues since agents don't think the audience will be able to see the coins. (not true) But the same agent would readily book a mentalist with almost no visible props. This is truly a case where the illusion takes place in the mind of the beholder. |

Hi Torkova
If Hideo Kato liked your style, I recommend you not changing your style. He is a great authority on the subject. Anyway, a warm welcome from one mentalist to the other. Please have a cup of strong Turkish coffee on my bill.
Magically Yours,

Welcome to the Café, Torkova. Being from New Jersey, I've seen you perform many times in the area and can only say if your mentalism is half as good as your coin routine, it will be great. Glad you decided to officially join us. I know you'll have a lot to offer.

Thanks for all the kind words. With talking not being my forte, it will be awhile before my mentalism approaches my coin work, but I'm thinking long term!
