Could anyone help me out with their opinions of these two effects. Both seem to be the kind of thing I'm looking for but I'm not sure which to choose.
I'm worried that The Thing may be a little less impromtu, but it does appear more impressive. I guess I need to know just how awe-inspring both these effects are by comparison. Would you say the Ghostly Pocket Hank is far less effective? It's hard to tell because there is no demo, whereas Bill Abbott has put out a demo of The Thing so can see what it's like. Your views would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! |

I'm not sure what the Ghostly Pocket Hank is, but will make the assumption that it is yet another dealer's name for Glorpy (aka Hyrum the Haunted Hank). Using this assumption, the Thing is an excellent stand-up performance piece. It looks like real magic, and is visually stunning, much of this is do to the openness of the illusion. It is not impromptu, and is not ideal (some will debate this point) close-up.
The Haunted Hank is another fantastic piece. It can be performed close-up and parlor, but it is not visible enough for stage. It is ideal for intimate performances. The effect looks mysterious and spooky because although the handkerchief moves, by unseen forces, the forces are hidden from view by the handkerchief. Because of this, the handkerchief can be used to "animate" objects placed within it. I hope this helps. Tony |

I own a Ghost Hank - do a search - Steve Brooks raves +++ about it - it is a glorpy deluxe - best silk, nice patterns, good size, and the gimmick is FOLDABLE and also it isn't sewn into the side so that you can pivot it into the middle...this allows some non-standard moves a glorpy can't do - and also, you can fold the thing small and give it a squeeze as a convincer... I use it all the time for spirit pencil writing and the like.
I never went for the thing - but then, I wanted something for subtle ghost effects and easily ready to roll in a second.

Thanks Tony for the PM .....I started doing this effect with the haunted hank but found it is easyer to set up and perform it with the glorpy . And every body wants to see the Key thinking it is gimick . You can PM me for more Info of the effect I do . It is a Effect that Black Hart came up with and it got me to take out the Haunted hank out of my junk drawer and start useing it again.

Hey Guys,
The Thing in its current form is not ideal for a close-up performance. You CAN peform it close-up without risk of exposure but it plays best in a stand-up setting. Lynetta's Ghostly Hank is great. Well-made and the best of it's kind. The Pocket Thing is on it's way. I'll let you know more when I can. Sincerely Bill Abbott |

Pocket thing? I'm there. Sign me up.
Love Love Love..Lynetta's hank. It can be subtle and spooky when it needs to be and yet with a carefully timed scoop can be made to seemingly jump three feet in the air. You can actually weakly pull off a couple of mini-zombie moves with Lynetta's hank even at present. But don't. I look forward to a new piece of cloth doctored by Mr. Abbott...a pocket thing sounds like just the ticket. |

Lynetta's small and large size items are very nice. I keep one in the suit picket at all times...in case the spirits need to write to someone...just an FYI Eugene Burger still offers a nice one with a "clean" duplicate on his website store.
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."
