I have been asked to perform some tricks and entertain 11 yr olds on a 1 hour bus ride. Sounds great. I do have some ideas, but was wondering if anyone out there had any thoughts.....Just to let you know a few of my magician friends have already said "Don't do it!" ha ha.

I did this once for a wealthy client for a bus load of 9-10 year olds. It was a challenge because it was on the freeway on the way to an ice skating rink. It was difficult because I could stand up to move to the next set of seats but for the most part I had to SIT DOWN the entire time. Plus, you are limited to what you can actually do.

I agree with Airship....DON'T DO IT!!! Smile

My wife teaches this age group and would also say..."Don't Do It!!!"

The sight angles, noise levels, the lack of attention this age group will exhibit during an hour long bus ride, etc...will all make you ask yourself, "What was I thinking?"

If you do decide to accept this challenge...well, good luck. We'll be waiting to see how it worked out for you. Please keep us posted.

If you can do balloon moddeling, I suggets you do 30 mins of magic, and 30 mins of balloons. This will half your trouble, and balloons are a lot easier to do in these restrictions.

Magic wise, the age group is going to be a problem along with all your props moving.
I suggest rope tricks such as the cut and restored rope, and rope through neck.
Maybe some hankerchief tricks would play well if you know some good ones.

Look in Mark Wilsons complete course in magic for some good tricks with these props.

Thanks for the input and advice guys, but I have accepted because the money is very good....Anyhow someone said mentalism is a good idea so I'll go with that and some balloons (thanks ku7uk3). But I will let you all know how I got on when its all over

Thanks again.

I freaked out some grade 5 and 6 kids with a book-test; they're old enough to appreciate mentalism.
How about doing the tossed-out deck on the bus?

Seriously, you toss the deck out the window (while waiting at a red light of course).

The cop that pulls your driver over for littering will be baffled when you devine his card, just as baffled as your driver will be as he is handed his ticket and wonders why he even let you on the bus in the first place...

Food for thought (or naught).

Now, I'm really serious. Card on window!!!

Again, be sure you're stopped at a red light, or in the parking lot when peeling the card off the outside of the glass.

And for the grand finale...The vanishing bus...

The above should be performed as a back-up, in case the Vanishing Children effect does not work. lol
