I have been reading Ken Brooke's Magic Place and came across the Bruno Hennig -- Fred Kaps Dancing & Floating Cork. This looks like an outstanding routine. I am wondering if anyone currently uses this and how people react to it?

It started the revolution of IT magic. I remember when Kaps first started to do it he came to Oakland, Calif., and was going to do it in his show/lecture. Word got out and Larry Jennings flew up from Los Angeles JUST TO SEE KAPS do it. I used to do it a lot and it never failed to amaze and baffle.
Note: The current version I see advertised comes with a wooden box. Kaps did not use this, he used a plain ring box. Here's a link to see Kaps doing it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pRiTBqcO......;search=

Thanks for that, Pete. I appreciate it. It must have been quite something to see, especially at the time when IT was still relatively unknown. Did Wonder Bar come after this, do you know?
He really was quite a magician; I'm sorry I never got a chance to see him. I know you and Mr. Koornwinder did a presentation at a recent FISM on Fred Kaps. Have you two ever thought about a book? |

The Kaps book, from his copious notes, has been underway for some time. It is all in the hands of Koornwinder and Caveney (who will publish it). BTW Caveney was also involved in our Kaps presentation(s) at FISM and the WMS in Las Vegas.
Wonder Bar, as far as I know, came AFTER the cork. Yes, when Kaps did the cork FEW knew anything about how it worked. It baffled most of the tops magicians of the time.
