Have you ever e-mailed restaurants in an attempted to get work? If so, how did it go?
Thanks Shane |

Also sounds like a duplicate post.
Shane, you posted the same question in the Table Workers section. One post is good enough. (But even if you posted in 10 places, it doesn't change the answer. Get in their face and show them what you can do. Don't hide behind a screen name.) Robert

Yes I tried it. I think I located about 50 restaurant email addresses.
I don't think I got any work from it. Probably with greater numbers the success rate would be higher. I once emailed all the shopping malls, and other possible venues (was about 100 emails), and one recipient referred me for his friend's son's birthday party. And that was my fourth bithday party show ever. I have found more effective methods since then. (going to the place in person) |

Sorry for a duplicate post! I first posted it here. Then I thought if would work better in the Table Hoppers and Party Strollers section.
Thanks Shane |

I do not think there is anything inherently wrong with e-mailing. Just be aware of the possible outcomes.
SPAM, with all the e-mail I get in a day, as an individual, there are a LOT that go right to my trash bin. If I do not know you or your company name, I am not opening it. Read then dump, IF I actually read it, it better be something I cannot live without, OR you make me think it is 'cause my day gets pretty busy very fast. Read and save,, IF it sounds interesting, I might save it- into a pretty big file, and I may actually remember that I saved it, and why! someday..... To use e-mail as a followup to a live demo or in person try-out is much more logical I think. As to posting in more than one area? I for one have about 10 maximum of the sections on this menu that I have time to read and look into now and then. I might have missed it if I didnlt see it here. Maybe try to remember something I have seen in other posts, just a statement thet "I am posting this in XX of the other sections. Reaching your target audience is the same in here as it is out there! <And the electrons can be re-cycled too!> Good luck Kay

Sending letters is only a small percentage better than what you want to do via email. FACE TO FACE is the way to go.

You might send a letter explaining that you "have a proposition that will be to our mutual benefit" and ask for a meeting at some time to suit their convenience. No details, just a 2-3 sentence letter explaining you will phone to set up a time to meet for 5-10 minutes. Then a phone call sets up the meeting, so you know you will meet the decision maker and that they will have 5-10 minutes to focus on your idea...
of course there is nothing wrong with just walking in during a slow time (between lunch and dinner) and pitching the idea...this will just get the ball rolloing, more than likely, and will require follow up I like the slight hype that the contact letter adds...."a proposition that will be to our mutual benefit...." or something like that....then you know if they set the meeting that you have a hot one on the line...and because of the wording of the letter they are already one step up the decision making ladder Hope this helps....the main thing is if you have a short list of restaurants in mind, treat each one as if it were the ONLY one and go get the business Best Regards, Wes |
