Can anybody please tell me where I can find a vanishing servante? I ordered the "Idiot's Servante" from Hank Lee but it was out of stock and I can't find anyone else who supplies one.
I have heard that, in his book "The Uncanny Scot", Ron Wilson explains a disappearing servante. Are they easy to construct or is it better to buy one? |

From the sounds of it what you are looking for is a topit.
The idiot's servante is great but it can only be used sitting down. I am assuming you would like something you can use standing up. Hank lee does sell "pin in" style topits for about five bucks. Buy one of them and try it out. If you like it you may want to look at some of the work by Patrick Page, Carl Cloutier, Michael Ammar, and a host of others. That should get you started. Enjoy! I've been working out of a table servante lately and I really like it.
Not as big as the kozmo servante. when I'm done with my show, I unhook it from my lefler table, zip it up and I'm packed to go home. Wait 'til you see it! This sounds like a different kind tho. Darn

There is a "vanishing servante" described in Okito on Magic. It must be used sitting down, though. If adjusted incorrectly, it can cause serious injury, bring tears to your eyes and make you speak an octave higher than usual.

Frank, is it going to be big enough for a big load?...

Yep. not a bowling ball but certainly a melon or coconut (my current favorite).
absolutely. I've also rigged it for a restaurant tray stand/keyboard stand as well.

Me too. I used the prototype at two stand-up shows recently and was quite pleased.

The seated vanishing servante IS described in Ron Wilson's book and it should be easy enough to make and use if the desired use is while seated at a card table. It is not a topit.

I was confused because most guys on the street don't sit at a card table. Sorry about that. Best, Dan- "MT is one of the reasons we started this board! The Wilson body servante is based upon Okito's design. John Cornelius has one, but he hasn't put the plans into print. I'm not sure how John's works. I know that the Wilson/Okito design requires that you stand up to effect the vanish of the servante.
When rehearsing this, wear a cup. If you are using your own table, it would be easier to build the work into the table.

Not sure what you are wanting to vanish but cloth napkin works well.

I want to be able to switch a deck of playing cards for another while seated at a card table and then stand up and be left apparently clean.

Tim Star sold a vanishing servante at FISM in Stockholm. It was, as far as I can see, a refined version of the one in Ron Wilson's book "The Uncanny Scot".

The video, "Chuck Fayne Live" shows one of these and a brief description of its use is given.
