Hello everyone. I have booked about 17 shows for December. I have only lossed 2 shows on price. If you only lose a couple of shows because of price should you raise your rates? Does anyone have any formulas they go by? How many shows(percentage) do you EXPECT to lose because of you rates? Thanks in advance guys and sorry if this has been answered before but I am BUSY!

I bet you'll lose more shows for being too cheap than too much. Let them brag how much you cost, not how cheap they got you for. TC |

I should say that it is much harder to book a show if someone has not seen me perform...I am sure that is the same for most of you though. |

If you are comfortable with your closing rate for gigs then raise your prize. Every year it cost 4% more to live, gas going up etc. If I were you I'd raise your rates by 25%. Yes you'll lose some gigs but you only have to book 75% of current gigs to make the same around. Work less, make more, sounds good to me.

What do magicians in your area charge? What makes you so successful? A 90% success rate is very good, but WHY. Is it salesmenship, is it animals, is it balloons, is it no competition, or is because you are very cheap? If you ask yourself these questions the answer will become apparent.

In sales the rule is if you sell 10% of the people you solicit, you are doing very well.

He isn't soliciting people they are soliciting him. If they are calling him souldn't he expect a higher sucess rate than 10%? I'm thinken you should be satisfied with 50%, there must be a good reason why you are getting 90%.

Why are you worrying over the shows you LOOSE?
Come up with a goal for income - write it down. Then work to meet it. Listen, if you're goal is to do $5,000 in gigs, and you do that, but in the process lose $1,500 - who cares. Sure maybe take another look and RAISE your goal. BUt beyond that, if you're worrying about what you MAKE, you won't have time to worry about what you loose. Robert

Robert,
You've got it, have a goal and work to it. The reason most people don't reach their goals is... they don't have any. Edd
