Is there a single decent use for it that doesn't make it seem totally obvious?? Please reply.

Using a mirror box takes some work to understand the angles you can display it at. Be sure to polish the mirror. It just won't work if the mirror is dusty from the packing materials.

Open both doors together in the beginning. Then figure out how to stick wiggling fingers from both hands into the openings so that the correct illusion is achieved (one hand in one door, the other hand in the other door).
Pull your fingers out, close the doors and produce the load. ~michael

I had a post in here, but it vanished. Probably the forum censors objected to my "indecent proposal" for use of this prop. However, leaving out the risqué presentation I came up with, I proposed magically to eliminate the obvious by making it more obvious... i.e., smash the mirror and shake out the pieces from the box, saying "It used to be done with mirrors, but that would be too obvious. I'll use real magic instead. Empty box, no more mirrors." Then go ahead and make the production as usual, since you didn't really shatter the mirror, but either have a metal glass smasher joke inside the box at the beginning, or actual pieces of a real broken mirror to shake out into a waste basket or other container.

It was removed because the working for the effect was included in a post.

Ken Brooke had the greatest routine with a mirror box. He would show it empty and produce a razor and shaving cream, then look INTO THE BOX and shave.
