Anyone know of a good source for bottomless glasses? I'm interested in doing Harry Riser's Walnut Routine. The plastic tumblers available today just won't do.

Any help would be appreciated.

I bought "Completely Nuts" by Brian O'Neill a couple of years ago that may be what you are looking for. I think I bought it through Hocus Pocus magic, but don't hold me to that.

You're not going to be happy with the glass. The cut has a frosted appearance. Take clear nail polish and apply it all around the cut (a Dan Watkins suggestion). This will help a lot.

Doug Gorman of San Antonio TX, available at http://www.featsofwonder.com, has a very nice set he uses. Fooled me badly. If you are unhappy with your prop, contact Doug. He is a very gracious man and I'm sure he would be glad to help.
Have something to say in your magic. It is rare, interesting and your audiences will thank you for it.

Actually Jim Riser suggested the nail polish, I used super glue at the suggestion of another friend of mine. Either item will do the job. It makes the cut much more transparent.

Came today and as you state the forsted appearance of the cut needs to be addressed. Dan if I may ask how does one go about applying the Super Glue? This is a very unforgiving substance. Did a small project for the wife last week and had major Super Glue cleanup issues.

I would use nail polish.
Super Glue also has a tendency to turn white.

2 years ago or so with Dan's help on the super glue thing I applied it to the glass that came with Completely nuts. It does work well..
but (I am a bit nervous to tell you) I had a friend make me some glasses with a very involved process..

If you are not satisfied with the super glue thing let me know I will give you one of mine. There beautiful and the design of the glass alone hides the necessary.

Another thing you might try for making this look better is an application of sodium silicate solution.

There is another use for this glass in the 'Conjuring Anthology' book by Jim Steinmeyer.

Guys;
If you have not seen this before, here is something you might be interested in seeing:

http://www.jamesriser.com/Walnut/Glass.html

I am not currently maing these. I just thought you might want to see the glasses.

I ended up making most of the bottom holes slightly offset so that the walnuts could stack better on the ledge inside of the glass with no chance of them falling out accidently.
